I'm looking to get a brushless system for my B44, the guys that race the 4wd's at my track recommend a 6.5 motor.

I'm looking at the LRP Sphere Competition / Vector X-11 combo

or

the Novak GTB / Velocity combo

Any recomendations between the two? or maybe a btter choice from another company?

I will be running it with a 6000 mah Maxamps Lips saddle pack.

Thanks!

Novak is the best, you can swap the rotors and they also have 'L' and 'R' type motors depending on how much torque or punch you actually want. I think they have 3 different aftermarket rotors each with a slightly different feel.

Definately Mamba Max 5700!! Nothing else even comes close, And I have tested the similar Novak, LRP, Tekin system. Go with the Mamba Max 5700 combo!

Mamba is far too much power for most racers to handle, it requires a different type of skill to drive it consistently off-road. They don't have the patience or throttle discipline to master it, and the Novak if set up properly will be much friendlier for the newbie or the twitch-prone type who jams hard the throttle at every opportunity.

Honestly most of the people I've seen who show up at the track with the mamba for the first time end up all over the place, they get frustrated and go home. Racing with the mamba is like ballet or figure skating, the system is only as smooth and graceful as you drive it, and if you drive it harshly it will be uncontrollabe and you'll end up just making a fool of yourself. Whereas the Novak or even LRP you can drive it harshly and still have hope of staying on the track. Now you won't win by driving poorly, but it definately keeps the frustration level down when someone is learning how to drive the track.

I'm not knocking the mamba, I'm just saying it's not the system to learn or start out on.

You know that the Mamba is illegal in ROAR, right?

That's why I was'nt considering a Mamba, I will be racing not bashing.

I just order a Novak GTB / Velocity 6.5 combo from Tower, they had a $30 off coupon so it was a great deal!

I'm just wondering, should I also get the Novak "smart stop" 2 -cell lipo cut off module?

Never mind, I see that the GTB has a built in Lipo cut-off!

LRP Sphere hands down. I have a Sidewinder and can hang with the best of them personally, using my LHS's local rules, but yes, they are not legal for ROAR.

Novak, well my experience with Novak has been short of "meh". I can only talk about personal experience though, like my friend getting a 8.5 Novak and having the ESC start smoking before we even turn the thing on. Went back to the LHS and they said that more than a few people have not been impressed with the Novak systems, either that or they did the same thing, smoking ESC. LRP is more commonly used in races here anyway. Very nice stuff. Very smooth, she got the 9.5, but still has more than enough power on a 6 cell to run the track very well.

Sidewinder is great, LRP is excellent, I personally will stay away from Novak for a while.

No. The sidewinder is the ESC. ROAR rules barely even mention the ESC. The green motors are CM36's, but there is no reason a sidewinder can't run a ROAR legal motor or a novak motor.
