"the pilot shaft just turns and moves the pistion when i try to tighten the nut, and i cant get the flywheel to tighten down"

Does that sound like a worn collett, or not able to stop the crank from turning when turning the nut?

I find these posts the most interesting to read, better than 'which buggy is best?' (mine of course).

Ill repeat that you need to add a washer in between the collet and bearing, this will allow the flywheel to seat properly on the collet and teh nut to tighten up.
Sometimes different machining tolerances from one one batch of flywheels to the next will have the flywheel eat at different depths on the collet hence why i say the above .The ideal washer though mustnt be bigger than the OD of teh collet in townsley's case as i am sure if he puts teh collet inside the flywheel hole it will be a mm or so recessed.
