My SH.28 has about 7 gallons through it,and lost its pinch(no resistance at all TDC)Im looking for the most rediculous power available(dont care if its hard to tune)i wanna stay at or under 2hundo.Right now im inbetween STS.30 and Picco.28,i see everybody is LRP or Picco. Some of the most impressive vids ive seen are STS.30, im running 40 series mashers so i prefer power down low,can get STS and pipe for around $200.Ive always been a Horsepower junkie and as stated before i have a large ego. Thanks for any help guys, much appreciative.

Get an lrp or a picco. They are very similar performers...they have tons of power and will throw your savage around without a problem. The STS 30's are very powerful but seem to go nuts after a couple of gallons. They have major problems because the engine can't take the power its generating and the weak taiwanese made materials crumble like cookies inside the crankcase. It is also VERY VERY finnicky when it comes to tuning that beast. You can find yourself chasing a tune for days at times.

If you want the most power available, buy a Novarossi 528xrp or xrs....not sure.....one of them has the little pin on the crankshaft that allows for roto-start. This engine does go for about 400 shipped so that is another thing to consider.

Between the lrp or picco, get the Picco because they use better materials and it has much better fuel mileage and even if they both last 7 gallons....you will get way more runtime on the picco. For the 30-40 bucks more for the picco, its really worth it.

Thanks guys,as you could probably tell by my post,im already leaning one way Any STS owners out there, whats the life expectancy on these things? If i could get the rest of the year w/STS id be cool w/that.When i first started looking at mills, month or two ago, everybody was hyping STS now its kind of faded into Picco and LRP,if i get a couple gallons less(life expectancy)for a tad more power thatd b cool. Are there any mods(different carb etc.)that make it a little easier to tune? Thanks again

STS is sort of a crap shoot, you might get lucky and get one that lasts, but in all probability, the crank pin will break or go out of round. They almost require their STS 0702 header and pipe to get peak performance. They are tough to tune and parts are not easy to come across. If you get lucky, you will get a screamer.

Here is my STS 30 doing its thing, but I pulled it. It made awesome power, but it seems you are either making power or fighting it. There was not much operating, wide open acceleration or shutting down. It would make a great drag car engine. I replaced it with an LRP and it is doing super. If you are mechanically inclined, I would cast my vote for the Picco, if you want to just go run, the LRP is a great engine. BB

Nice thanks lugnut, damn im low on funds dont get paid for two more days and im very impatient.Off topic but has anyone ever seen the kit sold on ebay for airing up rc tires? You know how much crazier these things would be if you could put a couple of pounds of air in the tires. The kits are only $25 i really want to see if they work, was thinking about trying to do something myself maybe with a really good glue job and installing a football or basketball oneway rubber valve in the tire itself hopefully not throwing it too out of balance idk.thanks again.

The OS 28ZX is a screaming demon and probably one of the best of the entire 28 class. Problem is, it is a truggy engine and is bump start only. You cannot do that in a Savage. If they ever offer it in a pull start, they would probably get a chunk of the MT market. They tried with the 30VG, it falls flat on rpm and does not stand high temperatures very well. Make sure you get a pull starter or roto start compatible engine. BB

nope but that'ld be interesting, to see, just make sure the rims don't have holes in um i've seen that so the air can go in and out

The K 5.9 is pretty impressive, here's mine, that is rich on the low end as I did not have a wheelie bar and it comes over fast! That thing grabs a lot of sky when it stands up!

The Picco 28 really seems to have an intimate working relationship with the 086 pipe. There's kind of a little bit of sweet magic going on there. Mine also did excellent on my STS 0702 pipe and header. BB

The Picco runs very well on the STS 0702 pipe and header. At least I can use that much of the money I spent. I say that as all of my Picco 28s have the 086 on them now. BB

I think this Picco 26 does pretty good on the stock Tower Terror pipe. I cannot believe I ran it that long with out flipping it one way or another! BB
