Hello 1/2 a gurus,
My .061 big mig only has 1 shim in it. It's not broken in yet but it's only running at 11,000. I'm wondering if another shim or two might help. The only problem is that I lost the other two that came with the engine. Is there a substitute I can use or a place I can buy them?

From Larry Driskill at Kitting It Together. You might also check with Steve (skaliwag) at Select Hobbies - I did not see them listed on his website, but he may have some in stock. Lite Machines also carries them.

The AP Wasp .061 shims available from Hobbypeople will fit, but all the AP shims I have seen are very poor quality. I usually toss them and replace with the copper shims.

The AP head gasket/shim is definitely inferior: probably stamped out of used Tsing Tao cans. The only AP I own only ran right when I put in a copper gasket. The copper gasket also let me get it to start (if not run well) with an RJL diesel head.
