I agree!!....and to add to it, they have been known to cause nothing but a tuning NIGHTMARE to say the least....

you dont have to take the engine out but i would just to clean it, problems come when you accidently shift from forward to reverse wile moveing it will stripp gears an its a nightmare...as for the deul exost you need some back pressure to preesureize the feul tank wich helps get feul to the carb....if you got it running you have enough but its a nightmare tuneing them sometimes, i just plane dont like them ur choice but id ditch it an sell it

Lean it out some and it will help cure the problem. The reason it shakes/jerks during take off is because the pawls in the tranny aren't fully engaging due to throttle sensitivity like like DaveG55 said. There is a "no buck mod" that you can do to prevent this but I dont know how to do it. My guess would be having to lock the pawls so there constantly engaged. Dave knows how to do this. I unfortunantly don't. PM him about it or maybe he'll chime in with that answer.

Here are some tuning vids you can follow not the same truck but same concept)

I think he means me.
It shakes/jerks/jumps/bucks at idle and take off because of the internal transmission components that prevent you from shifting from forward to reverse while moving. It's what is probably causing your shifting problems too. Once the truck is tuned and idling properly the bucking goes away at idle and is only noticable when taking off slowly. The shifting problems should go away too unless they are caused by a binding somewhere in the shifting linkage/ fork system. The mechinism that prevents shifting is a type of centrifical clutch system where a set of pawls expand and engage the drum that powers the final drive shaft. if the rpm is fast enough to cause those pawls to extend then the truck tries to move (the jumping) but once they do engage it pulls the internal rpms down and the pawls disengage. Repeat, repeat, repeat = jump, jump, jump....
There are onlly two ways to eliminate the jumping. One is to replace the internal gears with a forward-only-conversion (FOC). The jumping goes away but so does reverse. There are avantages to having no reverse but, to me - being lazy and all, I prefer having reverse over the power /weight gains. So that only leaves one other option. The "constant engagement/no buck" modification. Rather than go into what is involved I'll post a link with detailed instruction tha explains the whole process much better than I can.
Good Luck.

That is a pretty interesting and very good link there dave. I may have to consider doing that mod to my revo to eliminate any possible problems that could crop up...

why?
the revo transmission is not made the same way as the t-maxx one is.
there are no pawls in it. that's what the opti-drive is for
