Hi Guys, sorry, this has probably been asked to death, or really obvious but I couldn't find anything on it. In the class I race in, I'm limited to a 540 Silver can, and I'm currently using a TEU-101BK ESC. my question is if I get a better ESC (maybe something for 15t or higher) will my silver can get any better performance? Cheers!

Personally, I wouldn't bother. I've run hot 27 turn stock motors and lower on the TEU101 and it doesn't seem to behave any differently than my 10 turn Tekin ESC did on those motors. You might be better served looking for an edge on the battery, unless that's spec'd too. If you can, running lipo would allow for higher running voltage and less weight. If batteries are also limited, ignore that last part .

Like buzz says m8 stick with the 101 its a pretty good solid ESC ive ran it down to 17t motors without problems, for the silvercan its perfect a good plan by tamiya there.
Ive even seen certain 15turn esc lack punch of the line against cars with the 101
Tamiya lil esc is pretty bombproof and it cuts out if any problems too to stop any damage to other parts of the electrics.

Thanks guys... I guess I'm just a slow driver I'm running a 4200mah nimh battery, so I could go to lipo, Bu i don't actually have much room to move weight wise. Minimum weight is 1500g and I'm 1530g.

Thanks for your help though guys

What have you done to condition your silver can motor for racing? You'll find much better performance gains through properly breaking in your motor (break-in bath, bushing conditioning, etc.) than swapping out the esc.

How long are your wires? What connectors are you running for your batteries (or direct soldering)?

I found that swapping to a Manual Set up ESC does provide a little more top end..
I used a M-Troniks RV11 on my Silvercan Racer and that was a HUGE leap forward from my 101..
(I also Drifted the same car so no point in getting a forward only ESC, I just had the reverse locked out for the Race)
It was handy for Enduro races where the car was out on the track for longer then the usual 7mins..

Your in Canberra, I can hook you up to some Silvercan Experts who can help you out..
My House mate is racing at EPIC today...

Yeah, the motor migth be the issue, it was brand new and I just slapped it in and started racing Maybe I should try getting a new motor and actually break it in before use... also thanks for the advice on the ESC magnet, EPIC is where i'm racing too...
