Well folks, after waiting over one year from my original purchase date I finally have a BME engine. I originally ordered and paid for a "Sport 50" that Keith was going to market. He then decided there wasn't enough market interest in it and told me I would get a BME 58 instead. I think most everyone knows the rest of the story with BME.
Andy and crew (new BME owners) made good on the 58 engine Keith had said he would send me. Having the email paper trail really helped here too as I forwarded all this to Andy.
The new engine arrived yesterday and is one of the first few being produced. I have attached some pictures for your viewing pleasure. As you can see the weight with muffler and ignition is a tad over 50 ounces on my not very accurate scales. BME says 50 ounces so it is a light-weight.

I received mine yesterday, also. It's a nice looking engine. I need suggestions on hooking up throttle linkage. Any ideas? Maybe Andy & Tom can chime in here, and help out.

My first plane for this engine will be an Aeroworks Ultimate. I've had the plane for over 2 years, just waiting for this engine. Thanks, guys.

You some lucky folks! That engine should be able to scream power! Love to jump on the band wagon if I didn't have some super excellent engines already. AI carries exhaust flanges for the engine when you get to making headers for them. The BME cylinder likes very short headers, and the engines should really wake up when you get them on a tuned system.
Hey Ralph! Your Macks would love to get behind one of these!

This is significantly lighter than any 50cc-class engine on the market. Just for reference, this is about 1-2 ounces LIGHTER than the old SPE-40, 3 oz lighter than a ZDZ 40, 12+ oz less than a DA50 or DL50, and 16 oz lighter than a Brillelli 366GT with the side dump muffler, and 18 oz less than my Taurus 52 with the wraparound Pitts. This is indeed extremely light! In fact, it is only 3 ounces heavier than my OS 1.60, including BCM muffler, mount, and pump.

I am sure this engine will be quite powerful, but it is also so very light that it will be perfect for the smaller "tweener-size" ~27% planes like the GP Performance Series planes or others meant for the OS 1.60.

Do they have a price in mind when time comes for the general release?

First you are going to have to remove the original tab and replace it with a nose steering wheel or similar. Then you will either have to mount the servo below (and angled) or use a bell crank system. As for me I am going to make a carb rotation block out of G10. Rcignitions uses this on his Zenoah conversions and it works great. Oh, and don't forget to give it a little baffling.

the first 10 engines have the carb mounted 90 off. all the engine from now will not have that problem. i have changed the program to move the carb 90 back. there are only 10 that way. tom
