Hi guys,

I bought this Mini Maglite Super Bright Krypton bulbs and was thinking of making
it a muzzle flash. The bulb uses 2-Cell AA source (1.5 x 2= 3.0 volts) supply, I was wondering would this work?

Where do you normally connect the the gun flash LED in an RX13 board? Where if there is EL-MOD Booster fitted?
How much voltage does a normal flash LED use? Where can I get 3.0 volts if I want to use this?
Do I need to series a resistor, if so how many ohms?

Wacky I know your expertise in this area, can you advice?
SORRY for asking too much..

Best regards,

Patrick C.

This is a cool idea, I'm intrigued by it.. Presumably your Mag light bulb is a typical "white spectrum" type of light like most flashlight bulbs are unless they have a colored lens over them, I wonder if they make these in a yellow or red version, they might make for a little more realistic looking "muzzle flash", but this is still a great idea in any case.

A super Bright LED works great no resistors needed if you are going to EL MOD,, connection point below and all this info is in the manual!
See booster manual to follow the locations with the pictures. I am not sure what that lamp will get you, 10,000.00 lum Super Bright LED's are pretty bright!

ThinkTank TLS
1 EMNet-Connection (cable 1)
2 signal input
3 supply for turret unit
4 auxiliary light (ex. rear light) (cable 3)
5 optional muzzle flash
6 optional servo connection for horizontal main gun movement.
7 optional servo connection for vertical main gun movement.
L1 power LED
L2 command LED

Here are the connection points for the Heng Long board is you want to use that you can also,, but you need at least a 75 ohm resistor soldered to the positive side of your Super Bright LED!

Patrick,

The hokey HL recoil still works if you press the button with El Mod. With the 3-1 gearboxes its hardly noticeable. Is this the button you want to activate the gun firing? If so this is the picture I saved from a fellow forum member.

James those points are very hard to solder too that is why on my board i have followed the trace out to easier / safer / stronger points to make the solder connections and it is the exact same trace!

Gotcha, but your picture is so small I'd need a magnifying glass to see it!

Hi guys,

Thanks, Blitz which color wires are those in your Picture, I can't tell. Is this points 5 volts?

Swath, I would like the flash to work when the gun is firing and recoil using Asiatam recoil unit,
similar to Tamiya's function.

About the HL jerky (track) recoil, you mean if I use the EL MOD Booster HL this function is still there?
How can't I get rid of it?

Keep tanking

Patrick C.

Patrick, not sure of the voltage the resistior it to aviod the draw away from the sound card from producing its blast sound!
The cannon flash leads are the two coming up the center of the picture, one red and one black. The Red is positive and it should connect to the 3rd trace down on the left hand side of the sound card that is verticle in the center of the picture. The Black line is the negative should be on the same trace as the bottom 4 traces on the opposite side of the sound card as shown below. If you are making your own LED you need to add a 75-ohm resistor to the positive side of the LED lead! See easy soldering points below and I recommend you us a little super glue or sticky tape to make a strain relief for these wires to keep them from pulling off of the PC board, this is not shown in the picture below!

Hi Patrick,

I use same setup (EL MOD Booster HL) in my PzIII and the jerky recoil is gone.

Jake

Haven't done the flash thing yet so I'll defer to Blitz. As for the recoil, when I press the cannon sound button on the TX the sprocket barely moves now but it does move. I attribute the lack of movement to the 3-1 gears soaking it up.

Hi Swath,

I find this strange, I have standard metal gears (Not Stug or 3:1) With HL electronics the jerking is present. With HL + Booster the jerking is gone, sounds remain.
Does the "mass inert simulation" prevent the jerking?

Blitz, could you fill us in on this?

Regards Jake
