Well I did it today, I finally gave in and bought myself the RB 523TM for my T-maxx 2.5. It should be here sometime this week. I was wondering what break-in method everyone has been using for this motor?? And also I have a THS exhuast that I used with the 2.5 and was wondering if anyone has expiremented using this or any other exhaust besides the one that comes with the package. My maxx is basically stock besides RPM arms all around, should I be expecting to replace any drive train components once I install my new motor?? And if so, which ones??
Thanks for all your help, the people on here are great!!! Thanks

set your mesh properly and make sure your slipper is adjusted properly and your drive train should be fine.......you will likely still twist some axles so a good upgrade would be CVD's or at least the new 3.3 axles

awesome engine for the maxx, yor going to have a blast!!!!!the stock shafts will last for a bit,but as stated above steel upgrades will likely be in your future.if cash is an issue do the rear drive line first as they are the ones that are the most stressed

My RB motor I had in a Revo ate up 3 tranny's! Traxxas needs an upgrade there I think. Maybe a 3 speed!! I wish. Anyway, good luck with it and I'm sure you'll love it. Those motors are wicked strong.

Now I've read that a foward only conversion tranny will hold uo to the RB. I also read that the T-Maxx 3.3 has upgrades over the old 2.5 that will stand up to the RB engine period. Is this true that you guys know of? If so, I might buy this engine for my new T-Maxx. I loved the power that bad boy had. Second gear, let off the throttle for a second and drill it again and my revo would flip over! That engine is bad a**!!

I had a FOC T-maxx tranny mounted to a O.S. .21RG. The FOC tranny is for sale on ebay right now. Ebay #260263393305. This tranny still has plenty of life left. I tore it apart and checked the gears and bearings and there is no wear. Pics aren't very good. But it's just a thought.

Sweet choice man!!! ur definately gonna like the RB engine!!! I can tell ya though one of the toughest parts is gonna be breaking it in, I know because Ive got a RB WS7II in my 1/8 buggy; and let me tell ya! that thing was a PITA!!! to get the 1st few tanks through; so just take ur time with it and u should eventually get it done...good luck with it man!!!

FOC Tranny? Maybe I'm missing something here but I'm not sure what that is. Probably a dumb question.

FOC is short forward only conversion. You can buy a forward only conversion without buying a whole new tranny

FOC=Foward Only Coversion; essentially eliminating and taking out the reverse gear(s), altogether.
