I've put the base color of Klass-Kote on my Balsa USA Northstar, and as luck would have it I managed to get some moderate orange peel. The paint seems to work well if the dummy behind the gun uses enough thinner and doesn't try to spray to heavy of a coat... Not that I made both of these mistakes or anything! Done this before on a motorcycle & am handy with sanding/buffing this sort of defect out but am worried about weight on a plane, especially since it's so hard to evenly sand the paint in the open-bay areas of the wings.

Anyway, the orange peel is much worse on the topside than on the bottom. Since this plane is so weight sensitive aft of the CG, and virtually the entire painted area is aft of the CG, I'm thinking of sanding & re-spraying just the top but leaving the bottom alone.

The question is:Will I be able to rub/buff/polish the inevitable transition/overspray areas so they blend together well, or is this asking for more trouble than shooting another full coat on (top and bottom?) The base color I'm shooting is white; and will later trim out with other colors.

thanks!

i think it would be best to sand it and spray the new coat on the full plane looks better and its not all that bush weight.
