Hi!
I'm new to gas engines but have flown R/C for 33 years and
I thought I would give some information regarding how things has worked out for me.
I bought a Yak-54 from Peak-models in China last August and powered it with a MVVS 45cc engine (same as the Evolution ).This is the older 45cc model with aluminum crankcase, the new version has magnesium crankase and is 100g lighter. The Silencer I used is the MVVS No 3204 cannister silencer and exhaust tubing is hard soldered from 90 degree stainless steel tubing made by Krumscheid in Germany. First I used a flexible middle section in the exhaust tubing to take up all the vibrations, but the flexible tubing leaked the first time I started the engine so I replaced it with one more a 90 degree stainless steel tubing from Krumscheid.
I hope this will hold up despite all the vibrations.

Radio used is a Spektrum DX-6i with Spektrum 9100 receiver and two 2000 mAh, LiFeIo 6,6volt batteries from Hi-models in China. I was a bit worried at first that the LiFeIo battery that gave 7volts at would be a problem for the JR 8711 servos , but until now everything has worked out just fine.
At first I used a Menz 22x8 wooden prop but this is way to small for this engine. Then I tried a 24x10 wooden one from
WWW. hawkmodel.cn. This prop was a little large, it turned 5200-5300 rpm, so I reduced it in size and shape slightly, now a 22,5x10 and the MVVS turns this prop at 6200 rpm. Might be still too much but it flies the Yak-54 real good.

I had a problem at first getting the fuel to the carb, but a friend of mine who has been into this hobby longer than I have, and who has had both a ZDZ 40cc and a DL 50cc engine, said that it is very common that you have to turn the engine over for several minutes with
full choke before gas gets to the carb.
it took long time before the fuel got to the carb the first time. And sure it did. I think I turned that engine over for more than 5 minutes I think I turned my engine over with full choke for more than 5 minutes before I saw fuel entering the carb.a
But as soon as the fuel was there the engine started on the first flip. It was a little scary at first flipping that big prop.

Hello Jan,
Normally, you do not have tu turn the engine for 5 minutes. You must instead make a short line full of fuel to the carb and hold the line up. Then also close the small hole in the choke plate with the thumb, and bump the prop to and fro.
If you do this before the engine is mounted in the airplane, it is very easy. Once the carb is wet, all will be well.
I hope you do not use that second LiPo battery for a Vlach ignition. Stick to 4 NiMH cells. With ICU conversion set, 2S LiPo is OK
