What a shame, that project was awesome. Several issues in the making and one minute of airtime. I really feel for those guys, the photos taken look great. But, how do you lose a plane with redundant battery systems and two receivers? I hope they can find the route cause. BTW, did you notice three antennas sticking out the fuselage? I don't recall what the third one (white antenna) was for. Anybody have any more details?

I had a phone call just after the ‘incident’ from the pilot, John Palmer.
His report to me was that all seemed perfect, take off was a breeze, retracts went away smoothly and the CG felt about right.
It was on the downwind turn that the problem occurred, it happened very fast (as you can imagine).
All John new was that the elevator did not respond, lock out is a possibility, but John cannot recall if he had other functions.
The wreckage is total and they are unlikely to know what caused it.

I feel very sorry for this beautiful project!

Anyway, I think sometimes is not a good idea to put in too many redundant safety circuits in a plane, you have by the end a very complicate machine and sometimes the probability of a fault is much more than a simple system.

If you don't put in it, it won't break!

By the way, it's a mistery for me that some airplanes will fly good even if they're not so well designed, and some aircraft won't , even if they're very accurate designed..

The only remedy is to start making another model!
