Anyone have experience with both engines? Any added benefit from one or the other? I just purchased the XL.15A.

I currently own an XL.46A and it is an agreeable engine. I would just like to know why they changed it to the XLS .46 and what was the benefit. I see the bore and stroke is slightly diferent.

I have both of those engines, on the ground they turn close to the same #'s but i find the XL to unload a little bit more than the XLS in flight. XL is a bit lighter than the XLS but the XLS is also built alot tougher than the XL. All in all they are both great engines and both have been trouble free for me.

Sweet. Glad to know I didn't buy no junk. Can you be more specific on how the XLS is built tougher? Thanks a million.

When you get your XL goto tower or somewhere else and look at the pics of the XLS you will notice the extra webbing in the front of the engine to make it stronger.

Then try to protect the HS needle as it sticks out quite a bit and is usually the first thing to hit. I stuffed my lil extra in when the radio went bad and the XL was OK after.

I have the XL-15A engine, finished running it in last week. On the test stand using a 7 x 4 APC prop (sorry FBD ) , small spinner & home mixed fuel (70% methanol, 10% nitro, 10% synthetic oil & 10% castor oil) I obtained 17,550 RPM.

In brief, I'm very impressed with the quality of the engine, the performance and the wonderful sound it makes. Although I do use ear plugs when test stand running due to my close proximity to the exhaust

When i got my .15XLS my friend also got one so we could build some combat planes to mess around with, there was nothing like the sound of two .15XLS breaking in with MA 8x3's both turning exactly 18000rpm right out of the box, sweet ! ! !

My XL was on my 30oz lil extra before my radio went bad, it's still destined for it when it's repaired
My XLS is on a 44oz combat delta, flies fine on a 8x3 for messing around, need to shave some oz's and go to a 8x4 or 7x6 to get some speed. Here's the delta.

PS, see that muffler defletor on the delta, it's now in the garbage, instant 1500rpm drop with it on, i think i'd rather clean up the mess.

Cool plane. I really need to build one. My Neon from Hitec has mixing and I am assuming that is how it is controlled. I do not see a rudder.
