There is a traxxas blast on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320277500903&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DBidding it says it has a "Traxxas 12 turn modified motor" isnt the limit a 19 turn for the blast? All i would need is a charger, what is a charger that would charge batteries with a deans connector? I want a basic charger nothing special, (no lcd, ect, ect,) maybe $25 for a charger?

What do you guys think of this boat (motor, he even has a different tx+rx) and the traxxas blast in general? If i do get it what would be a good metal (or carbon fibre) prop that i could run giving me the most top speed?

Thanks again

Edit: would a charger like this work? charger (scroll down the page a bit)

Is there a different charger that you would suggest with JUST the function of charging (nothing fancy)

The boat looks like a straight deal, I wouldnt bid much till the end though..keep the bid low. For a Blast it looks good, appears to be missing its turn fin though.

You might also want to look into the mini-rio or the mini-v as well, both are good boats. Imho, Traxxas updated the blast to compete with those two boats.

The charger is probably ok, I doubt most of us would buy one, but it would work. Personally I use a Super Brain 959, it's a bit outdated it works for me. They make a newer one that handles lipos, a capability I now wish I had. The one for just NiMH(959) is ~$50. The one for lipos and NIMH (989) is ~$140

The are other good chargers out there, but this is merely my preference.

the motor in there isn't a traxxas motor at all.

And even if it was, it wouldn't work well with the stock prop.
A 12 turn motor is not good in a boat. the lowest i would go with is a 19 turn spec motor.

Then you'd still need to replace the drive shaft with a flex cable if you want to push some power through the boat, because that's what i'm going to have to end up doing with my 15 turn in mine. Way too many rpm's for the stock shaft. (it starts ribrating like crazy, and it makes a bunch of noise. Not to mention it leaks water like crazy.)

I am going to get a flex cable anyway, just so i could use a better prop.

Also, the weight is way too far forward on the blast. The battery needs to come back to the transom to get the CG where it needs to be. (30% forward from the stern)

All in all, if you want the blast to go fast, it takes a bunch of work. If you don't expect any speed higher than stock, then the blast is a great choice.

I was looking at the mini-v, mini rio and mini-c, arent they only 15 inches long? i would kindof like something a bit longer... What is the speed for a stock mini-v, mini rio and mini-c?

try one of these:
http://www.r2hobbies.com/proddetail.php?prod=rcbt1111
some have had issues, but most haven't. This is a great boat for the money.
Buy this esc:
http://www.r2hobbies.com/proddetail.php?prod=rcps61604
Pick yourself up a radio, and some lipo's from hobby city dot com.

do you want something high performance and fast?
or just something to mess around with?

Try this:
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=PRB3400

Works great on 3s lipo.

It'll run you a little over $200, but not by much.

Maybe this, if you like mono's better:

The thing is im 14 and money is tight... I want a fast boat but cannot afford one, this will be my first boat, i want the fastest yet cheapest boat possible, even if its not a rtr...

i seen that apache catamaran before and it looks good, what aftermarket motor and battery would you suggest to make it go faster? about how fast stock and about how fast after a 3s and motor?

if ya wanna go fast for cheap, get the prince i linked to earlier.

For the apache, i would use a stock motor or a 19 spec. Anything more is really useless in a boat, unless you prop it right.

I would use this:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTSG8&P=7

From what i can see, it has the best spec of any 19 turn on tower.

I would also us an octura x637 or x640.
http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=octsb-x637
or
http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=octsb-x640

On 6 cells.
With 3s lipo, this boat is a rocket and jumps out of the water even with the stock stuff because it is so light.

I would back down into the x4** line when on 3s liop because of the higher rpms.

Stock with 6 cells about 15mph.
stock with 3s lipo about 25mph.
new motor and prop on 6 cells about 25-30mph.
new motor and prop on 3s lipo about 30-40mph.

i'm not sure about the stock prop.

The thing is, when this boat gets going, it can flip easily when ruunning on 3s lipo, because it won't weigh anything.

I would go for at least 4Ah (4000mah) if you want descent runtimes.

Click this link, then when it is in your adress bar, replace the ******'s with hobby city dot com. (RCU doesn't support link to their site.)
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7240&Product_Name=ZIPPY-R_4800mAh_25C_3S1P
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6452&Product_Name=ABF_4000mAh_7.4v_17-23C_Lipoly

these should be good. Remember. I would watercool the motor no matter what setup you are running. If you use 3s, i would watercool the esc, too.

Sorry for being such a noob... if you want to learn anything about heli's i could teach ya

then after i get some money i can really upgrade it

I need a servo if im building the prince right? if so what kind of servo? can you point me to a link?
