I know that the Nextar ARF comes with an Auto Pilot. I have not played with it but I have used an FMA CoPilot. which I am told is similar.

You calibrate the Auto Pilot for the surrounding landscape and then set the sensitivity (gain). As you fly, it will force the aircraft back to Upright and Neutral. The higher the gain, the harder it is to force the aircraft off level.

It looks like a small kitchen cabinet knob.

Is that what you have?

Beware of these; if you are flying over water or sand they will give you big problems. In every case where we have had them, they were soon disconnected and thrown away as they caused more problems than they solved.

If you are going to be working with a experianced and competant instructor/mentor then you will be asked to disconnect it.

If you are going to try to teach yourself then this device will make it worse and likely to contribute to your failure to acheve your goal.

I do not think it matters where on the bottom you mount it. I have always seen it under the fuse, below the leading edge of the wing.

I do agree with the others that these devices can be somewhat of an aid, but can also fight you if the gain is too high. I found that I like to turn down the gain when landing as the device tries to keep you from turning on to final.
