Uh, almost ALL GM 3.8s take 10w30. The Series III is the exception. You should've read the oil fill cap.

Seriously...To even believe the computer over the cap is ludicrous. Normally, when I say stuff like that I'm joking...but I'm not. The manufacturer put "SAE 10W30" on the cap for a REASON. Out of 10w30? No reason for it. Call your local parts house.

Come on, you had 2 years of schooling and you didn't learn that? The only automotive-centric class Iv'e taken was an alignment class that taught me a bunch of crap I already knew from dicking around with RC cars.

Now, the other side of it is...5w30 vs 10w30 only matters on startup. 100F, the 5w30 changes from 5wt to 30wt, and the 10w30 changes from 10wt to 30wt. So, once the car is running, no biggie.

Did you check the balljoints and tie rod ends? Did you lube the tie rod ends that would have HAD to been replaced by 215k for the car to even survive that long?

Don't act like customers are idiots until you know all the facts, and are ready to get picked apart yourself.

If I was him I would of followed the computer because that one you time you don't, your boss comes in an says why didn't you follow procedure and you get fired

actually, your both wrong because you should use both the computer and read the cap, and make an educated decision based on both.

haha.

Let's keep it cool, people.

Also, please post messages with content, and not the ever-popular '+1' or '-1' sort of thing. Posts without substantive content will be removed.

Thank you.

Does substantive content include blatant flaming and degrading?

Nope.
