Hi Tom,

Have you ever thought of doing a 50cc Giles? or is there no interest from customers for a 50cc.

Yes I would very much like to make one, but from where I stand you and I would be the only ones flying it.

Am I wrong? I'd really love to be wrong.

Ya I found the one from Northeast Aero as well. It looks nice but I would prefer one from wild hare. I don't own any wild hare planes now but I know a few people that do and I think they are one of the best you can get for the price. If there were enough interest in a 50cc Giles and Tom was thinking of doing one I would hold out longer before I get my next one. I was thinking of the baby edge but after seeing the 28% edge fly and the fact it looks like it will fit in my car I think that is the one for me. Unless there were a Giles in the works..

OK so let's be clear. The plane shown in the link is not a Giles, it's an MX2. Different airplane, the MX2 is basically an Extra 300LX with a very high tail. I found the MX2 as a model to require a lot of changes to get it to fly well, which is why our 100cc MX2 never actually made it into production.

A real Giles has a swept leading edge and a straight trailing edge, and the LE sweep is about twice the angle of an Extra.

So you guys who are asking for a Giles, is that really what you want?

Yeah I thought the wings looked funny Tom not at all like your 40% Giles which I love but cannot go that big. LOL Would have to upgrade vehicles LOL but the Giles is a cool bird and all around a great platform for all aerobatics!!! And the color scheme on the 40% the white and red and black is great!!!

Yes I must admit I did not look close enough, it reminds me of an edge wing.
But ya I would be in for a Giles if you brought one out. I am in the same boat. I would not be able to transport the 40%.

Tom,
Count me in for a 50cc Giles, like I said Brand X giles from NJ is over priced and behind the times in quality. Great Planes Giles was good but fragile and surf board wing, it has to be a two piece wing. Im in for the other plane we talked bout too, 80cc or there abouts.

I'd be tempted for one of those myself. Both the 35 and 41% versions are sweetheart planes and a 50cc version would probably be another great flying plane.

This is what I am putting together with a DL-50 right now. They list it as a giles it is one? Or a copy? I got the plane for $200.00 out the door pick up only brand new. And the DL I got for $319.00 with shipping. It will be a slow build because that is all I can afford right now. I want to but a smart fly system in it and some nice servo. I have many other planes to fly right now. But my baby is a showtime 90 with a saito 125. I love this plane and I learning on of my tricks stuff with this bird.

Interesting color scheme. 1 roll of each color would cost about the same as you paid for the plane.

It does look like a Giles but with a restyled cowl. Who makes it, what are the specs?

If you are short of money you definitely don't need the smart-fly stuff, it's nice (I use them) but certainly not a necessity.

It comes from one of the china toy company's and they have a wearhouse in so cal. here is the spec's Wing Span: 76in/1930mm

Wing Area: 1025sq in/66 sq dm

Flying Weight: 10.6lbs/4800g

Fuselage Length: 70.4in/1790mm

Engine Required: 40-50cc

Radio Required: 6 Channels, 6 Servos
So you really don't think I should go with the smart fly? I at least want to have two power supplys or three? One for the CDI and one for the controll surfaces or two for them one as a back up? I am going to jump into basic IMAC and I want to have the best my money can buy. Thanks for any help. Eric

Not exactly a 50cc size plane, more like a 1.60 glow.

I didn't say that. I said you don't need it and if money is tight spend it on something you DO need.

A plane that size will do nicely on a single A123 2300 pack for the whole plane including the ignition. Many will argue with this, but you asked and this is the Wild Hare forum.

Wild Hare is not sold at hobby shops or at secondary vendors except outside the U.S. Direct order only from Wild Hare R/C. Take a look at the website: http://www.wildharerc.com

Wild Hare R/C and Wild Hare Hobbies is a company I started about 7 years ago. We supply our own line of giant scale ARF designs that are manufactured for us in China. We also sell all of the other stuff required to complete our planes.

We have a reputation for good planes, good service and quality products as well as solid advice. We don't sell anything really cheap, I concentrate on quality products that provide the best bang for the buck while keeping in mind that our planes must perform as well as or better than anything else on the market, and must do it reliably. We rely more on returning customers than on high pressure ad campaigns. My wife and I are the only people here and we both answer the phones. We do this for a living, it's not a part time job.

That's what a Wild Hare is.
