Good, old fashioned paperclip Rob. It seems to be close to what HL uses for the loaders hatch handle.

I’ve just done a little more work on the ePray Tiger; I’ve repositioned the cupola and the pistol port. The pistol port has just had its first layer of filler applied.

The glue monster had certainly been let loose on the cupola, it was absolutely solid. I started separating the two halves of the cupola by running some thread along the join and then progressed to the blade of a blunt penknife, gently teasing the join to get it to separate. After I’d managed to get some purchase I moved on to a small, flat bladed screwdriver and after a few minutes of gentle levering I got the cupola to separate.

The pistol port came off quite easily using a Stanley knife blade, the lugs were removed and the joining face was sanded a little flatter to help it fit better. A couple of layers of filler will sort out the remaining gap, followed by a light sanding with 1200 grit paper.

If I summon up enough courage, I may even try the mantlet flip procedure.

Hi Stewart, did you use a ready made barrel extension or did you make it yourself?

The RX14 and receiver board turned up today, and my new magnifier.

I used my other Tiger as a wiring guide and set about replacing the suspect main board. I don't have three hands, which is a bit of a disappointment, but found a couple of mini crocodile clips to help me out. I replaced each wire in turn, held by a croc clip whilst I soldered them. Everything went fine until I realised that on starting the tank up I had no sound, everything worked perfectly, tracks, gun, turret etc but no sound.

That was until I decided to turn the volume screw on the bottom of the tank! LMAO! What a complete drip I am, don't say a word!

The upshot is I now have two fully functional Tigers, yippee! I'll have to give the new one a soak in test and run it around a lot and annoy people but that's what they are here for isn't it?

I just need another one now for spares, looks like another trip to ePray lads.

Well done stan

I got stuffed on the bulldog they revised it to buy-it-now for £25 not bad as it included metal tracks then after i checked the listing before hitting the buy-it button realised that the one i had been watching that had metal tracks now had nylon one's

was i miffed or what

Oh well looks like the bulldog will have to stay with plastic for a little while longer

Thanks Rob.

Did the seller do that to trick you or was it a genuine mistake?

Bit of a bloody shame whatever, sorry to hear that mate.

Just a quick update.

I've flipped the mantlet and lengthened the barrel, though I did lose the airsoft facility due to the fact that the inner barrel no longer fitted. I'm not bothered about that on this tank, the other Tiger can perform entertainment duty for my granddaughter.

I added the cables to the headlights (using paperclips) after seeing icemonkey's post on his Tiger, though my efforts are far less professional. The sprockets and idlers also got a coat of paint, the Silver just had to go.

Thanks Rob,

Humbrol 144 works well with the HL "grey". It is rather more Matt than the HL paint and of course I don't have an airbrush nor am I likely to get one in the near future. That doesn't disturb me too much as I suspect most Tigers soon lost the spray painted "fresh from the factory" look fairly soon in their lives. I've seen pictures of these tanks that look like they have had paint applied with a sweeping brush, and also have broken tank "furniture".

Most did look well maintained and I'd suspect there was some unconventional paint application going on that many pictures don't obviously reveal.

Yes I'm thinking out loud here.

Just trying to decide how to progress with this tank and also bearing in mind it doesn't have to be a perfect replica of an individual tank for my purposes. There will be a bit of poetic licence involved, but nothing too outrageous.

You aren't far away there stan as some had camo and the like applied with mops and brushes
and the paint was thinned out with diesiel/petrol mud/water whatever was at hand

The pallet we have is enormous mate, I'm just thinking on that at the moment. I don't want to overdo things of course but I don't want to be tied down by some of the images I've seen at the exclusion of imagination. They may not describe the whole "picture", and of course very few were in colour.

A fascinating subject indeed.
