Hello Barstow, Ca. I will be P.M'ing everybody listed with Barstow as their home on the RCU network and giving them Links to this forum tread. Don't forget to subsribe to it.
I figure this could bring some age groups together to discuss things or plan meets or what ever. maybe some of us adults could get together a discuss building a track. Or maybe some of you have secret locations out in the desert.

First things first....Please introduce yourself.
List your Age
Your RC's
Fav spot
stuff like that.

There are 33 names in Barstow on RCU. If you have friends not on here lets them know too.

I'll start.
My name is Marcus but friends call me Ponce and I'm 32
I have a X-Factor Rock crawler and had a Savage thats being built into something bigger/ better.
Want to pic up a Slayer.
So far I've done some crawling out at Rainbowbasin and Stawterwells area. Want to crawl the rocks coming into V-ville.

Ponce,
There used to be a race track south of the Bun Boys on east main, you had to go up the dirt road by purdy's meats toward the freway and there was a two story house where they held races on the week ends. Now that was a few years ago when I lived there thru the 90's, also there is a good rocky area on the N.N/E side of Calico Ghost Town that leads into the Mtns with a wash / dirt road going between rock walls that we 4 wheeled at a lot.

Stoddard Valley and Elephant mountian and Yermo area are other areas with lots of rock, enjoy"

Oh ya....all kindsa places to crawl around here. To0 bad the crawler is completely dissassembled right now. Accually I'll have it all rebuilt in time for the weather to cool down. Can't wait. Finishing up on a Trophy truck build right now.

I've been out here for 4 years now and rc isn't big. But it could be. It'd be nice to open a shop with a track out back

So people from Barstow don't ever leave so you must be military!!!! Ft. Irwin???

Spent 20 years there did a lot of work at MCLB & NTC Ft Irwin but was not Military, tried to enlist in the mid 70's but due to hearing it was a no go.

I currently have a Son at NTC Ft Irwin preparing for 2nd return to Iraq, he's cussing me cuz I did not lie to him about the heat at the ranges (: he has be stationed in AK.

NEThing Goes Hobbies closed down I think before I left the area but Cliff had a lot of RC Veh customers I thought, I was into planes and flew all the drylakes and BigBear etc.

You could start a club though fairly easy, enter the HUGE Barstow parade and display you driving skills and truck mods, that would / should draw attention.

Last time I had a gas powered buggy my wife ran it into the lake in Newberry springs.........................

CHACO, how goes it? Chaco your last name. I know a Matt Chacon but I guess that's not the same. Anyways glad to hear you're my age. The fellas your talking about also same age? You should definatelly get a dirt rig......you know, with all this desert and all. Then we could all hook up and tear it up.

I work out at Ft. Irwin. I know a soldier that wants a street nitro. Let me know about your set-up and $$$ you want and I'll pass it along. Catch you later Homie

I remember Barstow, I spent 1965 to 1967 there while tracking the Lunar Orbitor probe.
I would take the film from the spacecraft and give it to a lady named Pinky that flew a Beach Bananza and deliver it to Emery Air freight in LA for shipment to KodaK. Every day Pinky would bring me one of those tiny whisky bottles like you used to get on the airlines. I found out later that Pinky had been one of Pancho Barnes girls
I was on the road north of town toward Goldstone when the B-70 crashed. It nearly hit me.
Yes I remember Barstow.

That airplane crash was in the summer of 1966. I guess news takes a bit of time to get out to Ft Irwin.

BTW here is one of the pictures I took that summer:

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://wanderingspace.net/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/smallsteps-lunar-orbiter1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://wanderingspace.net/2007/11/smallsteps-wallpaper-lunar-orbiter-1/&h=1050&w=1680&sz=376&tbnid=wktbrrBfsxMJ::&tbnh=94&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dlunar%2Borbiter%2Bearth%2Bpicture&hl=en&usg=__gZ61C-nKEAgYmPzuKe0awXB7ZbE=&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=1&ct=image&cd=1

Well I told the technician to push the button that told the computer to send the commands to the spacecraft that told the spacecraft computer to turn around and point towards the earth, open its camera door and snap the shutter at the proper time to get the picture. There were a few other engineers involved but I guess I have just as much right as anyone to say I took the picture
