Sorry if this is a dumb question but I took a plane out of the box, its a nexSTAR ep trainer and noticed the motor and the cone looks a little crooked at the tip of the plane, is this normal? thanks

Yes. This is called Thrust Offset Compensation.

Right Offset
When a motor turns it causes the motor to try to turn in the opposite direction causing the plane to try to veer to the left, thus the offset to the right to counteract this.
If you gun the engine of your car and watch the motor it will try to twist in the opposite direction that the motor turns.

Down Offset
When the propeller speeds up it starts pulling the plane faster and the extra lift will try to make the nose of the plane rise too quickly. To offset this so the rise is not so drastic the motor has some down offset. This offset will also allow you to trim the plane so it flies level at about 1/2 throttle and the nose doesn't drop so drastically when the throttle is cut.

If you look closely at "real" airplanes, especially single engine type, you'll see the same offsets.
