Hi,

I'm new to the electric RC, so sorry if these are newbie Q's

I bought the Castle Sidewinder 5700kv motor and ESC and I'm running it on a 7 cell NiMH 4500 mah

It felt like it was reaching top speed in a matter of seconds so I put in a larger pinion gear, went from stock to 24T pinion and just took it for a testspin

The performance was nice but the thing got hot!!

Motor ESC and battery where all around 200-210°F !!!! After one battery run on pavement!

So is the pinion too large? or is there some setting in the ESC to keep things cooler?

Whats the best way to achive better topspeed without melting the stuff?

hey jato,he said he went to a larger pinion, liked the performance but it got too hot.and,it was also pointed out that mambas DO run a little hot,AND it was mentioned that some adjustments to his programming wil ALSO help some.it just seems to me that because YOU didnt have the ALL SOLVING ANSWER for the problem, you just want to flame everyone who even remotely sounds like the answer that you dont like. TRY READING COMPREHENSION.YOU sound ignorant, and im sorry to say,but ive sat in the background reading all the cool articles and i too have learned alot here, but now this forum seems to me like a proctologist's dream, nothing but wall to wall a$$h0le$, LATERZ

"TRY READING COMPREHENSION.YOU sound ignorant, "

Does anybody else find the irony in that?

about what? i didn't sign up here to argue with anybody, but it seems that other people can abuse the intentions of a friendly moment, people have opinions and it's posible to make a mistake once in a while, this is still a hobby it's suppose to be fun.

Yes it is suppose to be fun.. But is it fun when the motor and ESC burns up and they need to go buy a new one? Sounds like LOADS of fun to me..

lol stop arguing, that civic looks cool, nice paint nice body.

Who cares if you dont like the civic, post a picture of your own car so we can all have a go at it.

Change your attitude guys and stop hating,

Also you guys posted that why put a FWD shell on an rc drifter?

Well the drifter is 4wd so why are you guys putting on Rx7's, silvia's, 180sx's, and so on?

How is what your doing being more realistic than putting an FWD shell on a 4wd chassis and drifting it?

Some dude also wrote that you cant drift FWD, well you can but u need to yank the handbrake, that is the same technique used when you drift 4wd's, so get over yourselves.

And also R34 GTR's cant drift when they are AWD, they have the attesa system inwhich you can switch the car to rearwheel drive and then they can drift.

You american's dont have many skylines over there so you guys dont know what you are actually on about.

My universal's keep breaking, does this happen to anybody, can it be to much power, or not enough grease, running a stock spur, 20 pinion 19t properly broken in motor that pull about 2.8amp from batterry but give maximum speed of 34.6 on a 7cell. this is the second time it happens
