Hey Rend,
I have a great idea, how about we round up all the club ''experts'' and exile them all to Australia! Now that's an original idea!

Windy, cold, snow showers this week-end. When is ''global warming'' going to hit this part of the country?
Guess I'll stay inside and watch RC crash videos. That always lifts my spirits.

AUSTRALIA IS JUST NOW GETTING TO SUMMER....SO YOU WANT TO GIVE THE CLUB "EXPURTS" MORE PLAY TIME, HUH?

Oops, sorry 4 caps....I don't mean to yell

Are the storage compartments large enough for your planes?

lol, I've been trying to think of a way to get a pattern ship on a motorcycle - just doesn't seem to make sense. A little custom trailer might do the trick though... Might be fun to find a small foamy to stuff in there.

Thanks guys, very excited

Forget the storage, you won't have time to fly airplanes.
Once you hop on that bike you'll never want to get off.
Be safe, have fun!

Sounds good to me! Flying definitely decreased when I got my first bike, but a 29yo machine just isn't as much fun after the first year.

Should I sell my Venus .40 and get a sweet little scale electric plane? Always wanted a scale plane, think I've flown the Venus 9 times.

Sell the Venus. Now that you've flown a real pattern plane you're spoiled for any other aerobatic airplanes. Trade it in on something scale, or a glider, or an old timer, anything you won't expect to do nice aerobatics!

If you do I guarantee that you'll be like me; complaining that my scale aircraft doesn't 'fly right' and will have to be constantly reminded that it's not a pattern ship.

Where is a good resource for learning how to build a (composite) kit? I almost got one but was intimidated by gluing and shaping the airfoiled surfaces.

Maybe it would be fun to try building a wood wing for my Integral?? (like after the plane is assembled and flying, lol)

Joe, see this post. Is from an Israeli F3A pilot Issac Najari. He built a CA Models Osmose kit. His craftmanship is excelent. Lots of pictures and very good explanations.

Also check this out, from the same person ZN Line Xigris

Gracias Ricardo.

That first page pretty much answered every question I had (for now). I saw the Xigris thread but not the Osmose. That showed the tape on the wings to prevent removing material from the sheeted surface.

I think I want to try it Of course Isaac is pretty amazing and makes it look easy, but time and patience can allow many things to become possible.

I couldn't have built my Xigris without Isaac's thread. It's absolutely great.

I see Isaac uses 2-56 for his rudder cable. Is that pretty common? I can't argue that it's not enough if he's using it, but I assumed most use something heavier...

I'm using 2-56, no problems. Also used Sullivan kevlar cable for two years in my Xigris with no issues.

What are people using for wheels? The cheap-o china wheels I got (8g ea) don't seem to be holding up so well, lol. What's a good compromise for cost/weight/strength?

Joe, I had the same experience with the Chinese wheels. I'm using the DuBro Superlight wheels now and they seem to be holding up well.

Here's some crappola:
Second night in a row I'm still at work at 2am. Thermal design review tomorrow. If I don't get a chair thrown at me, I've done well.

On a lighter note (mabye not) I just bought a house. $200/mo less than I pay in rent now and that covers tax and insurance. 15miles closer to work, and now 10min from flying field instead of 40.

Hopefully there will be some time and space somewhere to get that Integral built...
