It will only affect that stick, so a a Mode 1 or Mode 2 user it will be your Aileron channel, for Modes 3 & 4 it will be the Rudder channel.

This will not be just affecting the US versions but also the DSX9.

Checked mine and mine is all well. I think what I am going to do is take a piece of fuel tubing and slice it then put it over the wires just as a precaution. I talked on the phone to Horizon today and they are doing research on the issue. They also said that there will be a service bulletin issued if they feel there is a problem. I didn't get that warm fuzzy feeling after hearing that. Chuck

It's very fortunate that we have the internet now so that problems such as this are addressed much quicker than in the past.
I just have to question your expectations as to Horizons response. Any QC issue such as this takes some time to sort out, if it weren't for the internet many more models would be lost to the problem. JR and Horizon will have to look at production samples and make the necessary changes, plus put a rework plan in place to fix the units already in the field. Takes time
Pete

That's what I did and so far it works fine.

Ed,

I just checked my non-2.4GHz model of the 9303 and found no chafing. As was stated earlier in the thread, there doesn't seem to be anything (chips, etc.) on the circuit board below the aileron gimbal so I think you're safe. Of course, it doesn't hurt to check.

Didn't you just remove ONE of the two gimbal retainers? Maybe not, but looks like it...??

Yup, mine too. I bought my Heli X9303 late April '08. I've never opened the case until I read this thread. My aileron gimbal wire bundle has a definite "nick" in the insulation but it's not yet cut through to the bare wire. I'll follow the JR fix plus will relieve the very sharp edge on the small black regulator chip on the RF board.

Nice to see Horizon step up and acknowledge the problem. Since I've registered online, it would nice if they emailed a warning to all X9303 owners.

Did you use my fix then Bob? Here are pics at full deflection up and down elevator one from each side at each extreme! I used a bit shorter screw!

Not exactly, but it's close. I think the general idea of getting that cable "south" of the gimbal assy is the trick.
Let's hope we haven't missed something>>

To the member who used silicone to fix the "chaffed" insulation..............

silicone sealant is very acidic, smells kinda like vinegar. i have seen people use this on connectors for television cable and it will literally "eat copper " in a very short period of time. I've seen it corrode through a .030" solid copper wire in a weeks time.

just my .002.......Id recommend rubbing a small amoun of baking soda mixed with water to form a "paste" in with a toothbrush to neutralize once it's removed, drying it off, and re-sealing with shoe goo or the 3m product others have mentioned.

I tried but the stock screw would not fit in the new location. Did you use a different size screw ?

I tried also with the same results. The screw is too long and also the head of the screw is black where his looks to be chrome or silver. I do like his better than the JR remedy.

I find this Funny as I notified both safety and insurance departments at both AMA and MAAC and as I was on the phone talking to Horizon tech department I was told the only thing they new was from pics from the many RC websites meanwhile as we were talking I got an Email from MAAC with the JR fix. So i'm supposed to believe JR that they have done any actual research on this? I don't believe it for a minute! I think maybe Maac or AMA got hold of this and some guy went look I fixed it to cover there butt's Is probably more how the story went?

Thanks Ryan. I did remove all silicon and used a cotton swab to rub soda and water on the wires. Then cleaned off any soda residue. Also did JR'r recommended fix.
