Tonight I was in the mood for some scratch building. But I could not work on my strv103 because i need some parts first. The need to cut styrene became to large, so I started a new project . A dozer blade for my sherman tank. Fisrt i built a frame of brass and glued on styrene. The front of the blade is made of aluminum sheet, so if it get scratched there will be metal visible and not white styrene. The lifting of the dozer blade is going to be by a flexible pushrod and hopefully i will get a realistic look.
The main referense is a 1:35 kit by Academy.

I visited google to find pictures of a dozer sherman but would like to se more, so if anyone know a good place please let me know.

/Anders

Needs some bolts and paint, but otherwise it looks great! Wish I could afford a Sherman, love that versatile tank! Maybe HL will smarten up and come out with one someday soon.....

It looks to be about 1 mm off on the right side!!! Have those calipers been calibrated recently?? It looks good I can't wait to see it working on your Sherman! That would coming in handing when I go to the Desert and Battle at DAK they tend to have some good size pebble in the road!

scanned some photos from a book I recently got from the library (Armor in Korea by Jim Mesko). The file is a PDF; so, just delete the .txt extension (filename is m4reference1.pdf.txt).

It's all Korean war stuff, but maybe it will help.

When you get the dozer blade mounted and get with weathering, put tons of dirt on the bow plate and on the back of the blade. Tanks kick up dust & dirt starting with about the 2nd road wheel....BUT, that damned dozer blade sucks up the dirt at the base and at times, makes it nearly impossible for the driver to see. A week in the field with the one I had, (M-48A1) we had to literally dig the driver's escape hatch free to drop it and hose the driver's compartment down. Make sure you pick the right blade to match the lifting mechanism. There were about 3 or 4 different types, one with cables, a couple hydraulic for the Shermans.

Some more work done on my dozer sherman. I was now able to screw the blade on to see how it would look. The tank is the older sherman with clutches in the gearbox, I haver modified it to a two motor gearbox.
