I would like to highlight something... wouldn't you guys agree its the reader's responsibility to consider a source's validity before blindly following advice given by an unknown source? This is a PUBLIC forum. Anyone can post... For example: If someone posts airplane X sucks, should we all change our opinion about airplane X, or should we ask ourselves," that bears some research, I wonder who else has flown that plane?" Ask aound a little before following blindly. If we all followed what we are told without question, where would we be?

This is a public forum, but there are rules in place to make sure shams don't take place. Troy violated those rules, and in doing so, jeopardizes the integrity of the information within this forum. I strongly request that RCU remove the posts made under false pretenses. Then the issue, in my mind, is resolved. Troy can continue to post under his correct user name. That would satisfy me. As for the statement that this only affects a few is not correct. I am new into pattern and did some research. I reviewed the false posts, and they misguided me. They should be removed so others in the future do not have to worry about reviewing fabricated information. This forum should be based on fact and not fiction.

my two cents

Hi,

I agree that the forum is open and you should consider the source of info.

So stuff inder the name of TN I do trust. But Fast Freddy???? Why would anyone consider him to be a reliable source of info. So do not believe everything you see... Make sure of the source.

As for Troy. It was a mistake. Very easy to get sucked in once you have started.

I will easily trust stuff Troys own name again.

Lets move on.

Regards
Attie

This forum should be based on fact and not fiction.

Sure it should, but to get there RCU would have to screen every member's credentials, require every member be verified against a screen name, on and on...

I liken RCU to Wikipedia... good for info on the fly, but anyone can input or edit content... try to cite Wikipedia ONCE in a college paper and see how much water that holds. Professors have meltdowns!

There is so much Hype of new products and airplanes in these forums it's unreal. Several years ago the QQ 72" Yak was hyped as the second coming in 3d airplanes in that size. Then we started getting reports of some that were not quite right. Well let me tell you I got one that is quite possibly the worst flying airplane I've ever owned. I didn't go out bashing the airplane simply because I might have gotten a bad one. Mine snapped violently to the right eveytime you pulled somewhat hard on the elevator. I rechecked everything and moved the CG to wards the nose in an attempt to fix this problem and I never could. I moved the CG 1" farther forward than the instructions called for, yes it got better but not enough for me to fly it. I was on approach one day when I lined up with the runway and banked a little to correct my heading and the airplane snapped and headed for the pits. I just pushed the nose down and put it into the ground. Amazingly I didn't hurt anything but my pride. That was enough and I put the airplane up on the wall. I've seen my buddy fly his and it doesn't do this. It's something with this airplane. I can trim an airplane as well as anyone. But I've checked everything I know to check and have given up on it. Yet there are many out there flying great. Luck of the draw but the Hype sucks some people into buying new products that are not yet ready for market. I've also bought products I was told to stay clear of for some perceived problem that I never encountered.

When Jason won the Nats with an Impact, the next Monday every new kit in the country was sold and the waiting list began. Same thing happened with the Intregal. Not that these are bad airplanes, just the contrary.

Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.

Will I buy another QQ airplane? I want a Python so bad I can taste it, can I fly it like QQ?

Ah no.

The real issue I see is somebody is marketing a product without telling the public that he is associated with the company or even denying it. If each vendor can publicly reveal the identify of all its sales persons and these people publicly admit which vendor they are associated with on RCU, then we have good openness.

Just as a point of reference, RCKen is not Ken Thompson to the best of my knowledge.

It's very sad this thread has continued to stay open but, I can tell everyone exactly why it has. RCKen, the moderator, is Ken Thompson. He's buddies with Archie Stafford. Arc used to be his boss. You've intentionally left this thread open after many RCU members requested you close it. It's obvious you want the bashing to continue. Close this thread. You've made your point. Now all you're doing is hurting the entire pattern community.

I most definitely am not Ken Thompson. If you want to know who I am all you need to do is ask me and I will gladly tell you my name.

My name is Ken Isaac and I have absolutely nothing to do with the pattern flying community.

This tread remains open because there is NO JUSTIFICATION within our rules to close it down. We do not close threads simply because one or two members feel that the thread should be closed. I see no reason at all to close this thread at this time. The management of RCU frowns upon closing threads unless there is good justification to do so. Rather, they prefer to let threads die out on their own and simply slip down the thread list in the forum. This is the natural progression and we find that threads will die when the public interest in them goes away. If there are people still posting to this thread then there is still interest in the thread and it will stay open.

Ken

This thread was intended to harm a member, wrong or not, and therefor is in direct violation of RCU Rules. The fact that you will let it go demonstrates the very reason I rarely post on this site anymore.

That is not entirely true. It's no different than discussing a questionable airplane or company with poor customer service and it brings up some very good points about forum etiquette and how some may conduct themselves when given the opportunity for anonymity.

Regardless, I am working through this situation and will put finality to it when the time is right and I've had a chance to discuss it with those involved.

Policies are made to HELP !

They are not now nor were they ever intended to be inviolate.
That covers ALL policies.

At this point my opinion is turning against those who were initially victims. Their point has been made and they ARE victims.
I feel that they have received their recompense on RCU.

I haven't posted in this thread up until this point because I didn't feel the need to, but since this comment has been made I feel the need to respond. Please note the main individuals who have made a claim to have been harmed through the behavior of this other individual have not posted to this thread in a while. I'd say probably 90% of the posts after the first page are others commenting on what they have read. Why would your opinion now be turning against them? They are not in here continuing to rip on said individual, and from what I see the whole intent of the thread was to raise an awareness to the problem that existed, not to publicly humiliate or harm the person. Those may be secondary consequences, but the only way to stop such an egregious breach of public trust is to make the breach public. Like many others, I was floored when I read the first post of the thread. I can't pretend to understand why this person did what he did, but something tells me whatever he has to deal with offline as a result of this will be much worse than anything said here.
