Has anyone seen this advertisement on Page 29 of the November 2008, Backyard Flyer Magazine?

Looks like a great addition to the F15 DF they offer. TP2100 3S battery and 25A Pro ESC

wingspan of 29.0 inches
36.5 " length
195 sq in wing area
18-20 oz without battery
23.5 - 25.5 oz with battery

I have not joined the EDF crowd yet but this appeared attractive. Had not seen anything on their website at all about it which is strange

I guess it's foam like the F-15. Would be cool to glass and paint like some of the guys do with the Phase 3 F-16 from Hobby People.

Info should be live on the web next Thursday. The ad was placed a while ago, then development saw a small delay, we got busy and forgot to pull the ad from this pub, and the next thing you know we're surprised by an ad for a model we haven't announced yet!

I won't bury you in detailsthere will be plenty of info including video once it hits the web next week. The fan unit is NOT the same one in the F-15, although it is also 65mm. This one uses a 400 brushless inrunner. The stock setup performs better than the F-15, but it's still not an ultimate speed airplane. There's enough thrust for loops & immelmans from level flight. It handles very nicely, which makes it a blast to fly.

thanks Dave for the reply. Looks like a choice between belly lander or fixed gear based on the picture. I haven't bit into the EDF cake yet and figured that ad was an early surprise. Sorry we pounced on it but I am eager to see what it looks like.

I did not take the chomp on the F15 and have seen it fly and I am getting way more speed out of my Mini Ultra Stick and while I don't need to fly as fast as a real jet I sure would like something with some more zip to it.

Are these aircraft upgradable enough that it provides the pucker many are looking for but still controllable within a good sized flying area?

And to address those who have doubts about our announced release date, the product is already on the water so a late September / early October release is pretty solid.

thanks for posting. I copied and pasted your response and placed it on the thread over at RCG. The plane flies nice and seems very responsive. You were right about it not being a speed demon, but is the thought that additional speed could be gained through a battery change or different motor?

EDF is new to me, so forgive me the newbie questions. I know some that fly the F15 and it seems like I can out pace them with my MUS. I am not looking for turbine speed and I am sure that is not what this plane was designed for. Did you guys do any higher power setups in your testing of the new product?

I now know what to request from Santa Claus for Christmas 2008! I already have the E-Flite SuperAirliner and I love it. It gets a lot of attention whenever I have it out. I'm sure this F-16 will attract lots of attention too. It's a great way to start up a conversation and get the interest of new model pilots started.

Sorry for the late reply. The stock motor is pretty much maxed out in the stock configuration. It won't take 4S, and there's not much room for a bigger battery that might have a little more oomph. We're always working on new stuff, however, so there might be a chance in the future that we'll offer a more powerful fan and motor combination for the 64/65mm airplanes.

We're getting pretty close with the F-16. I expect them to arrive next week, so there's a chance we'll be shipping them soon.

I had two of them at the Heart of Ohio E-Jets event last weekend, and we flew them a bunch. Nice flying airplane.

Dave; you say the motor is a in runner 400. Is this a E-Flight motor painted black ? I have a T-28 and it says that it is a 480 ,but is black.What is the Kv of this motor? I know E-Flight list a 4200 Kv motor ,would this make the performance better ? I'm in line to get a F-16 and want it to have good vertical as well as good take off ooompf ! Has sanyone done any mods to the power system ?

The ParkZone T-28 motor is a different motor than the E-flite Park 480, as you have discovered. The F-16 motor is not a Park 400 inrunner, but it's very, very similar. Much more similar to the Park 400 than the T-28 motor is to the Park 480. Regarding power system upgrades, I'm sorry but we don't have any recommendations at this time. Perhaps in the near future [;)]

Had a flight on the new F-16 at the E-Jets event. It has good speed and great stability. It has a great preformance combination of speed and power and very relaxing to fly.

Does the F-16 have a skid plate like the Corsair has when you take the L/G off ? If it doesn't what would make a good -light skid plate ?

Thanks for letting us know it is in the shop. My LHS also was stocking the Hobby Lobby which is a little larger and at this time has access to motor hop-ups that Dave did not see happening for a while.

I am still on the fence because even adding the hop-up motor and battery is going to get you a 4 min flight......?

I have a MUS that flies super fast (faster than the F16?) and provides enough pucker. I am pondering if this F16 is the plane that makes me take the leap, but I don't know yet. Was hoping it would have had a "high power" set up and what they have in it now.

I think I am going to sit back and see what comes out of this thread after people have dropped coin on it and the after market wizards have had some time with it

Just built mine a few days ago. Was wondering how to make it faster but from what I have read in this thread that won't be happening for a while. I built mine with the e-flite 30 amp pro. I think the speed issue is the motor is a 2 pole motor. I do get about 10 minutes of flight out of it. Has good power. It isn't as fast as the phase 3 f-16 but is definitely built better. The first flight with the e-flite f-16 I had some trim issues and the landing wasn't that pretty but the landing gear definitely took the hit with no damage at all. I am impressed with it but still think it could use some more RPM's on the motor.
