Ditto,

Will be much more cost effective to buy the race roller.

ok i really didnt think that it all would add up to 650 most of the parts are only a few dollars.

What about a engine and pipe would like to stay around the 200 to 250 for the engine just want a good all around engine at first nothing crazy fast want to be some what easy to tune since this is my first nitro. Figure it just a basic two stroke engine so it cant be all that hard. But i am just going to run around on my track in the back yard for a few months until i get a feel for it when i start going out to compete i will upgrade to something faster.

As for the pipe i will drop some money on that dont really see that i would have to replace it for any reason. Dose the pipe matter to what engine you have (power band) or can i just get a good from the start and not have to worry about it.

..on the "only a few dollars"..it adds up quick..diffs about $40 each..CVD's $75 for the whole set..you have $200 right their..shocks..shock towers..etc..Theirs a lot of parts that you dont really even think of..On the motors..why buy twice? get a good motor and good pipe..your done..on the pipes dynamite makes some good ones for a great price..the 086 is a good one..

i see what you mean about it adding up quick i am just going for the racer roller as for the engine i like the os and rb they seem of high quaily and they are not too high in price....as for why buy twice i figure i would go with something that was a little more user friendly first and then work my way up and beside it always a good idea to have a back up. As for the pipe i see that there is a differents i like the jp pipes have not seen and dynamite pipes yet will look into it thanks......

Let me tell you it will cost more to buy all the parts and assemble verses buy a kit or rtr. If you look on ebay it wont take you long to figure out that a few people are buying complete cars and disassembling and selling the parts and making money.I have priced parts to make up a unit and everytime the unit will be cheaper.
as far as alum verses plastic....saving a gram of weight and have it bend or break while everyone else is still running sucks. Alum upgrades are for the most part eye candy. A few parts may need upgrade ....best way to tell...run your car hard and see what breaks.then determine if better to upgrade or not. Cars that flip over 10 times down a straight away will get bent/broken if all alum. Better off with plastic for the most part as it flexes back into shape. And carbon fiber shock towers not as good either...too brittle.
If you want a great car that is a kit so you can build it yourself and add your own egine/radio look at the thunder tiger st-1 PRO KIT not rtr version at AMAINHOBBIES. Look under monster truck kits.....on sale for 399.00......awesome.

yea i see that now had not gotten really far with priceing it all out before i asked. I would get a kit but i have my hreat set on a 8ight t now. thanks for the carbon fiber tip i knew it would be super light but wasnt sure about how strong it would be. I am just going to do what everyone is saying and get a roller and upgrade if needed

Still unsure about a engine i been looking at them now since i have made up my mind about what i am going to do. I want something that is user friendly i understand the basic idea of them and i know tuneing them wont be a big deal for me after i have messed with them a little but i hear that some of them are harder to break in then others want something at first that will be some what easy

I been in this hobby on and off for about 15 years everything i have is really out dated and i only have owned electric this is my first go at nitro and i dont want to get to far over my head like i said before i have worked on cars for a living and have build many race car and ran them a nitro is just a basic 2 stroke engine but this break in thing got me a little worried

Dont get worried about the breakin. The roller losi8t is an awesome car. Dont worry.. if you run your car hard enough you will still have plenty of things to maintain and work on. after a good hard day of running you will need to go through the car and check it over.So if your bummed out about getting a car already built it will be ok.Clutch shoes wear...etc etc.
as far as engines...the stock rtr engine the losi 427 is awesome...go to ebay and put in losi 427 at the top of the page and buy them for about a 100.00.I fly airplanes/helis and os engines are always good....lots of choices on engines.

honestly it sounds to me like you might be better off buying the rtr 8t and upgrading that one day at a time ... just move the steering servo back to the throttle and get a good steering servo , after that , set up your linkage & epa properly and you are good to race ... this is a good starting point with a new rtr 8t to then move forward being new to nitro without getting "over your head" like you said , unless you have some help from others directly that are good with nitros

I agree with this advice. buy a rtr losi 8t and like I said you will have plenty of time to build and upgrade as necessary later.

a lot of other people on here that has gotten the rtr says in not worth it that you will spend more money in the long run and just to start out with the race roller........

imo the one thing that i would never buy used would be the engine becuase you never really know how time is on it or h ow well it been taken care of
