I want to upgrade my TT-01's stock plastic front axle. I noticed some guys replacing the stock dogbone and wheel cup with alloy dogbones and steel wheel axles such as the Tamiya 50823 and Tamiya 50883. On the other hand, some guys swear that using universal joints (CVDs) such as the Tamiya 53792 Assembly Universal Shaft is far superior. I find that its a more expensive upgrade. Apart from less rattling, what benefits does the universal joint have over the alloy dogbone/wheel axle combination? If I switch to a set of universal joint shafts, does it mean that I don't need the wheel cup/wheel axle anymore? It just goes through the uprights?

Nice!!! I've got the same upgrades as you except for that super sweet Tamiya aluminum bumper stay and the universal shafts. Are your suspension arms the non-camber-adjustable GPM ones? Are those 2 degree toe-in rear uprights - I can't tell from the pics? I just ordered some alloy dogbones and steel wheel axles but am going through the buyer's regret stage at the moment. My buddies say that I should have got universal shafts instead for better performance. Since you've got CVs all round, what advantages do u get over the separate dogbone/wheel shaft setup?
