I've been looking into getting an e flite helicopter and i've never flown an helicopter before but have been in rc trucks for a while. Is there a big skill level difference between the cx-2 and the cp pro to the point where a begginer couldn't handle the cpp? Thanks in advance

I also went from RC trucks to heli's. I was told to start with a cx. So i bought a cp pro (i'm stupid like that). I had many crashes and put more money than it was worth into it. I dont regret it but a cx would have been a better choice. The cx should be kept indoors or out on a very calm day(from what I'v heard.). The cx is a really good deal for the money. The cx is limited to basic flight. The cp pro is capable of full 3d aerobatics. I am pretty good at tail in hover and not too bad with side in. Its a long learning curve and small steps help the ego and pocket book. Good luck whatever you decide.

the cx2 is a coaxial type heli (upper and lower main plades,no tail rotor, fixed pitch main blades.|)The cx2 also comes with a spread spectrum radio (no frequencies or interferance to deal with). the cp line (cp-=collective pitch) cp and cp pro function like real helicopters where both throttle and main blade pitch(angle of attack) cause lift. They also use a tail rotor to counteract the main blade rotation. The cp has an electric tail motor. The blade 400 is larger and has a belt driven tail and gyro(electronic assistant for tail control).
Happy hovering

Are the coaxial type helis capable of doing the aerobatic maneuvers that the cp pro can do. Thanks

i own a Cx2 and am pretty sure they cant do that kind of aerobatic flying (unless i did not read the instructions well ) .... i too would suggest a co-axial to start with, have heard of guys going for Blade 400 and T-rex's to begin with and they say they do fine. I still putter my cx2 every once in a while - it helps me with orientation and takes me back to basics.

for outdoors cx2 is not the better! - it has to be close to zero wind conditions for the CX2 - please spend the time and look into CP pro - i have heard some not so great stories about it about it "twichyness" ...but then again if you speak to 20 people you get 30 opinions....

also keep in mind (and i think this is a common thought and possible fact) for those collective pitch helis (ex. cp pro) the bigger the more stable, so you may really want to look into the blade 400 (bigger size than cp pro) or if cost is an issue look at an Esky heli like a Belt CP .

one other thing belt driven helis are much more stable than tail motor ones - i know this cuz i made the mistake of getting a tail motor heli (Heli max axe) and when i went to my Honey Bee King II - it was night and day.

Hope this was not too much info

now remember this is MY opinion ... for outdoor beginner heli for around (or better ...under) $200 you can look at the Esky Honey Bee King II ( i know this is an E-flite forum but just answering the question) or its bigger brother - Belt CP ...both for under 200 ... i have the King and would have gotten the Belt if i had done my research - bigger is more stable - (FYI - i not have a t-rex and getting a gaui 550) - i hardly fly my 300 size helis anymore.

this is a good place to get stuff with good reputation.

http://ka-planes.com/inc/sdetail/2248

http://ka-planes.com/inc/sdetail/430

they are both belt driven and cost wise it does not get less expensive than Esky ... now i know i will get blasted about parts not being made of diamond and gold - but the way i saw it when i started i crashed (and still do) so many times for a starter heli that i learned to fix and fly it was a lot of great help!

please make sure you get the training gear with it ... may just save you quite a few bucks!

one last thing you did nto ask - for the price of the Blade 400 (you can get for around 400 now) you get a radio that costs 200 by itself so in fact you are getting a 400 size heli for around 200

no worries - i would do as you are get a lot of advice and info then remember it is a hobby, it is for fun and go with it - you are going to crash, you are going to make purchases ,that in hind site you want to kick yourself ..but such is the nature of the hobby - just make sure at the end of the day you have a grin your face.

I have flown the Belt CP and it is a really stable helicopter compared to the CPP. I had to spend a lot of money to make the CPP fly really good. I learned to fly collective pitch helicopters with the Belt CP then I moved up to a T-Rex. And the Belt CP is just as capable of 3D as the T-Rex. With the Belt CP the parts seem to get sold out quickly, so when they are available stock up on the crash parts. The main problem with the CPP is the stock tail motor, but with a $14 DD motor kit the helicopter handles better. It can handle some wind, but the 450 size is better for day to day flying when the wind is a little stronger.
