The king Looks badass!, I will be buying one as soon as Rusty over at Castlerock hobbies gets them in. they fixed the tail and they went brushless, looks like they adressed the weak frame issue, as well, AND they went to a soft start ESC. For $250 RTF the king has kept it's reputaion as the best bang for the buck bird in my opinion.

the king3 does look great. Hopefully they addressed the less than stellar fire catching ESC. regardless i WILL be picking up both the belt and king when it becomes available. also dumped the rate gyro for a heading hold gyro as standard. and with 2.4g radio no more worries about glitching as we all know about with the stock ppm transmitter. If Esky can produce these new birds with the issues resolved they could very well be the manufacter to dominate the entry level rc helicopter market.

US Hobby Supply has had the King II with a 2.4 GHZ radio RTF for a while. I still rather have a DX6i then the E-Sky. My biggest question is what they did for the improved rear rotor control?

They went the wrong way with this. What they should have done is improve the king in the critical areas with an eye on keeping it inexpensive. They should just redesign the tail a bit, reinforce the frame behind the motor, add a decent brushless motor/esc and put higher quality pots in the remote. If they could do all that and keep the price at $175 on the internet, the king would be killing it.

Esky trying to bling it out with mediocre parts and jacking the price to $250 is a mistake. The best thing about the king is it's a cheap entry point to the hobby. Maybe they should offer the BlingKing3 and a cheaper model King3 like I want to see.

Hard to tell from the picture, did they go ball link on the tail rotor slider?

From the King 3 specifications that I've seen described, I'd rather have my $129 King 2 with all the upgrades I carefully selected (with the help of many out here). I'd rather have my Dx6i and Spektrum receiver than an Esky radio, the Logitech 2100T with their fast digital tail servo than any gyro from Esky, the cheap Xtreme blades and 43T trail drive pulley, and the 3900kv brushless motor and ESC that I chose. Heck I haven't even put on my CF frame and CNC head and tail components yet - all of which sounds a lot nicer than the new King 3.

I agree that it would have been better to have a King 3 that still costs less than $200 - since breaking that $200 barrier for an entry level copter seems like a lot - especially when the mass market places like Xheli are still selling some other (admitedly less interesting and capable) birds for around $100. If they just took the King 2 and added a brushless motor, bigger ESC, and a HH gyro that would have probably hit the mark better. Why spend $250 for a King when you can get a bigger Belt for less than that?

Oh well, I wish them luck with it!

I'm with warpnine on this. I like the bare bones I got, equipped like I want (3900Kv10t, 30A cncheli esc, Telebee gyro, Esky 8g servos, DX6i w/AR6100, and 1250-1300 batts).

its still havent been released yet. it will be interesting to see what this new king 3 and belt cp2 will be like. 250 for a RTF 2.4g king3 isnt that bad. if you add what it cost you to upgrade a king2 from stock its still over the $200 mark. What i'm most excited about is the new look. maybe when this hits all the older versions of the king2 will drop in price to clear out inventory. either way we win. more choices cant hurt.

the old ppm esky transmitter didnt glitch because its fm ppm. it glitches because of the pots. They are cheap and get corroded within a matter of minutes after cleaning them. WD-40 does the trick- its been months now since ive had a glitch on my stock tx.

It wouldnt surprise me if the 2.4ghz systems glitch as well.

I dont get it.
They improved the head and tail sections.
(How? Its still plastic)
They have "upgraded" the ESC on the Belt to softstart to solve a problem they didn't have.
(never heard of it in this or any other forum)
But not a word about improvments to it to prevent the #1 problem it does have, spontaneous combustion.
All this for another $75 bucks.
The suits at ESky now not only have a disconnect with their customers, but with a knowledge of their own product line as well.
This just proves that they are not paying any attention at all to the wants or expectations of their customers.
I would steer clear until they get their heads out of their asses

I have to agree that the K3 isn't all that great... I too would avoid the $250 gonna have to upgrade the thing soon enough heli and buy an older K2 heli which will be further discounted because of the arrival of the K3. The K3 is NOT worth the coin. Someone said that upgrading the K2 will bring you to around $200 which means I'm giving Esky $50 bucks for what??? Because I'm a nice guy.... NOT!!!

I agree to that the 'suits' here have totally missed the mark with the K3. Its still the K2 but with a bit more plastic and the 'upgrades' we normally put on first. And because they buy in volume means they get the parts super cheap and again supplied by the lowest bidder. So what has changed??? So for at least an extra hun($100) you give Esky the right to upgrade ur heli with cheap parts you could have done urself.

If I were a first time buyer.. I'd avoid the K3 and get something... cheaper.. but thats MHO.

happy fly'n

On E-Sky web site they have the belt CP V2 listed but show a standard FM radio. Wonder if they are going to offer it both standard FM and 2.4 GHz like the Lama series?
