I am fortunatly now the new owner of a NIB H9 300S 1/3 ARF that was discontinued a couple or so years ago. I plan on using the plane as a sport flyer and some beginner to intermediate IMAC type flying....no 3D. i want to equip the plane as basically as possible...ie not expensive. Any ideas, opinions, experiences, etc......please Thanks in advance....WC

congrats on your purchase, the Extra flies very nice and you will enjoy it as such. As far as the "guts" I would suggest the following:

- A123 batteries since you dont need extra doohickies like reg's. This will help keep costs down
- Dont cinch on the servos but there are plenty of 100+ oz servos from Futaba and Hitec that will fit the bill for sport flying.
- Standard RX's will work but watch for noise from the engine. Placement is key here
- For engines I would try to find a used ZDZ80 ot the Super80 for higher performance. Standard 80's have been seen for under $500 here in the marketplace. Great engine combo for this airplane

good luck as im sure others will chime in

Thanks for ideas..especially about the electrics.....thats the kind of info I'm looking for...do the A123 batteries require any special charger? I just got a 3W 75i for the engine, I hope it will fit the bill. Any other info is really helpful...this is my first giant project..Thanks WC

your 75 should be plenty for sport flying imo but im sure you will get some that say otherwise

the 123's do require a charger but there is more than 1 available from a few vendors that will work fine, sorry I don't have the info handy but someone else is bound to jump in and fill us in
