I was just wondering why my G3.0 hpi engine was getting high temp about 290-300 F (wich i find too high) after few minutes of runs. I seem s to run rich enough lots of smoke was comming out of it. I wanted to know if there is other causes of overheating than ruuning too lean ? I was driving it right no WOT for long i was just bashing smootly and temperature outside was warm not hot !

Thank you !

Inadequate air flow over the cooling head?

you stated other than running lean but i stillthink you might want to check this ,if you have a air leek it will lean your mill out even if you are pumping tons of fuel threw the carb .My mach .15 had a air leek and got hot verry fast even verry ritch after i sealed my crank caise carb stem and green slimed my hsn and lsn it ran much better and cooler and because of no air leek creating a artificial lean situation i had to adjust almost one full turn leaner on my needle's .

A lean high or low speed needle will cause overheating. Also binding in the drivetrain, like a sticky brake or to tight gear mesh, rock jammed in wheel rubbing on arms...things like that. And the ones mentioned above of course. If it runs much cooler(normal temp)with the body off, then you need more/bigger cooling holes cut in.

Air leak, not enough cooling, not shimmed right, plug temp not right, and fuel leak.

Improper gearing can also cause heat issues. If the engine doesn't have enough load it can rev too high and cause overheating while running with a proper tune.
Had that problem when I switched from a 3.3 to a 18tz.
