...when you've got an Oddified Tonegawa PS-050!!
I picked one up a couple of moths ago for a very good price, along with the alloy radio tray you see in the pics, and til now had kept it fairly quiet. Finally got round to fitting it.
It's an old unit in terms of years, nearly 5 years old, not that it matters, these things last forever. But apparently, I am told by the Marder owner who had it in his car, that the original owner was into large scale airplanes, and that the servo had seen very little actual work, so I'm confident it's in great shape.
The polishing job was done by the previous owner, and I feel a bit sorry for him, cos my camera's flash is always extremely harsh, and makes the polishing look very scratchy. From a distance it doesn't look scratchy at all, nice and smooth. Hopefully you can tell from the shots.
Taking an edumacated guess at spec, I'd say about 1000oz-in at 6v, maybe more, and about .18 transit to 40deg. It's fast enough, that's for sure and the torque is mind blowing. Enjoy the installation pics. Check out the pic with all three servos in it. And look at the ACE DS1015. It looks like it's lost in the land of the giants!
PS. The Rhino is not for sale, it will probably end up on steering duties in one of the MCD rallies, maybe the Thunderbolt. I'm not short of large scale servos now.

Isn't that the stock ps-050 torque rating? The Oddified has a modified motor and loom for more torque and speed, though I don't know exactly how much, Oddy doesn't post his specs, but I do know the mod is primarily to increase the speed, as a stock ps-050 isn't much good for touring car racing, too slow, that's why he was modifying them. I don't know anyway, like I say, it's more than fast and strong enough!!
The really nice thing is gonna be knowing that any which way I land or hit a rock, the one thing I won't destroy is my steering servo.

Really, thats an unfair comparison the ps-050 is a much larger servo. So large your better off installing a power steering pump and a rack n pinion. But i have a ps-050 the oddified one and yes, it's the mother of all servos for a large scale model.

Ouch. I think I might just go with the rhino.
Yeh, and that's the unmodified version again. As you can see from the link above, in the UK, the (m)oddified one is $400. I didn't think you could buy them easily anymore. Wonder what rossendale would say if you try to order one. They pop up every so often in the second hand market and when they do you gotta jump on them. I paid $160 for this one from a seller in the UK.

Good luck, I discovered today that if you stick an 11.1 lipo on it you can expect around 1800 oz-in and .14 transit. Need a regulator for the receiver though. That would be insane.
