Hi,
I have 3 Duralite 4300mah lions that I bought last winter. It doesn't look like I'm going to use them much until next summer. How should I deal with these batteries i.e. should I cycle them every month or so or is this not required? I've been taught that they perform better when used so that tells me that I should at least cycle them. If cycling is recommended, what would be the best way?
Cheers,
Lyle

Hi Lyle,

Li-ion/poly chemistry batteries perform best if used often. With regular use they do not need to be cycled. They store best if not left in a fully charged state. If they are to be left for long periods of time (over 4 weeks without use) you should exercise them by charging them back up, and then discharging them to about 7.6 volts. This should be performed every 4 - 6 weeks.

Thanks Mark,
Do you have any ideas or equipment to do that or do I need to build something to discharge... don't want to pull too much current.
Cheers,
Lyle
