well well well....

after all the configuring, watching sokals videos, asking for help here, about my gyro issues...i STILL could not get it set up properly even though most of the time i could tell i was "on track" and only minor tweeking to get the gyro to properly work. yet if I tweaked it a little more, i couldnt get it to work properly. (add in several more weeks of tweaking, configging, and confusion later...it FINALLY dawned on me. "Maybe it's my T-REX tail blades...??"

every video, has stock tail blades in place.
every picture here....has pics of stock blades in place..
nobody has every said "hey T-REX blades work GREAT!" here, or any other forum i have checked.
even at the hobby shop....we couldnt get the gyro to work..yet it "worked" fine by itself.

i placed the stock blades against the T-REX 450 tail blades... total surface are of the T-REX blades (combined) are about 30 percent SMALLER than the stock blade 400 tail blades. which cant compensate for the torque (hence the constant spinning/ trimmed to one extreme, and still having to add rudder input)

EUREKA! I FOUND IT!. heli flies perfectly now! ...and i no longer have any trim issues that i couldnt untrim..etc etc etc. giving the T-REX blades to a T-REX owner i fly with. good riddance!

sometimes one cant see the forest for the trees :P

tRex blade work great on my b400. Did you use the align tail blade grips as well?

That's really weird, I'm using align carbon tail blades on mine and have never had any issues, in fact I get better tracking and the tail holds better than when I had the stock blades on. I'm also using 325mm align carbons and align night blades without any issues.

What servo are you using on the rudder? Maybe the servo and gyro combination can't keep up with the align blades?

that could be it.... i know enough information where what i think i "know"..could still be incorrect.

for the blade 400 i used the stock blade tail grips with the T-REX 450 tail blades, and stock gyro... i couldnt eer get it to work "just right". it WAS flyable, but any time i added power it would spin, no matter how much trim/gain adjustments i did. but after the stock blades put on, it flew perfectly.

anyways i just bought my FUTABA GY401...and the servo is HUGE, even though he said "this is the smaller micro servo recommended for the blade 400" ... i will get the numbers on it in a little bit. at work, and the servo is away from my desk. i'll check back during lunchtime. even though this servo is much smaller than the one that ou could buy as a kit with the gyro its still honkin' big.

The Align tail blade root is thicker than the E-flite tail blades, that's why people switch to the Align tail blade grips when using Align, K&B or similar blades.

Perhaps the Align blades in the B400 grips are not able to fully straighten because of how tight they fit.
Or if you sanded them to fit most likely it was not perfectly balanced and flush with the grips.

Either way the Align tail blades seem to work just fine on the B400 as long as one uses Align grips.
They're probably just too tight in the stock grips which threw off you tail authority.

thanks for the info. it may have been because i havent used the align grips. although the t-rex blades fit right into the blade 400 grips without a hitch fo rme, nothing tight, but not loose either. ah well, it flies fine now

the servo that i purchased along with the gyro (but not in the complete "kit" form) is the S9254... frickin huge...hope that it fits. the one he showed me in the "kit" combo was even bigger.. yikes.

Gads..........I am using a 9254 on my Century Swift 16.(.30 size electric) That is a standard size servo and is way too big for your B400. The Futaba servo most are using on the 450 size helis is the 9650. Your tail is going to be extremely tail heavy with that servo. Who sold you that servo?

the LHS... (the one i dont like to go to) after arguing with the guy for a few minutes that even that size is way to big, he kept going back to wherever his info was and comes back.".this is what is recommended".

after not wqanting to argue anymore i bought it.

flies fine, but the extra weight compensates for my 40 amp ESC on the front...so all is good (i guess)
