Any one know of build threads on the Hawker Sea Fury built from plans by Vailly or Bates? I have done a search and found nothing.
Thanks

I've built 2 of the Vaillancort Seafurys.....the current flyer was enlarged to 110 inch, with a 3W140 up front. It is a great flyer, but I must admit that Jerry Bates plans appear to have better all around lines. If you have any questions on the Vailly, feel free to ask.

Here is a post by Jerry Bates concerning this build of his 1/4 Scale Sea Fury.......................................

Whew! Phil, you are the Master. As I am sure you are aware, the 1/4 scale Sea Fury plans are simply a direct enlargement of the 1:4.5 scale sized drawings and do not incorporate the engineering changes needed for this size model. The intention was to offer them only to those with the necessary skills required to build such a large model. Your work has inspired me to take another look at them. I would very much like to incorporate your construction changes into them, if you do not mind. It would be a crime not to do so particularily since Darrell at Sierra Giant Scale is offering those fantastic gear. Simply lovely work Phil!

Don't know weather I can help; I'm gaining experience fast. I have just started building the Bates 1/4 scale one for the Moki 250.

I intend to equip it with hydraulic wing fold and U/C, early days yet though.

I am building the 101" jerry Bates Sea Fury. I got the short kit from Bob Homan, landing gear and spinner from Sierra, and will be powering it with a 3W 157. I am a very experienced flyer, but not a very experienced builder so I have been very grateful of the information provided by Phil (115" Fury) and Brian O'Meara (101" Fury) on www.rcscalebuilder.com

Phil's is still in progress, and Brian's has had great showings at multiple Top Gun events.

I hear the Bates version is more scale (for the 101" versions) and from my experience the parts fit together well. I did talk to Vailly also and Roy Vaillancourt is an extremely helpful guy, so I imagine his plans are excellent as well.

As I said, I am not a very experienced plans builder, but if I can help I will. So far I have the tail and the center section of the wing with retracts complete and the fuse structure is built and sheeted, so I'm about 50% complete...

Hope that helps.

-Danny

Thanks for the offers. Anyone building that is willing to do a build thread, I for one would be most happy to read it. I enjoy the WW1 stuff, but this plane just fasinates me. I am a much better builder than pilot.
Thanks Guys

You're not going to find a better build thread here on RCU.
