Back in the late 40's and early 50's there were quite a few Midget racers (full scale) among them were the Shoestring, Midget Mustang, Lil' Toni, Bonzo and a few others. One was called the Lil' Rebel, and it was built by employees of the Vultee Aircraft Company (later LTV, Aerostructures and other names) in Nashville Tennessee. Does anyone ever recall seeing a model of this plane? Or even a set of drawings? My Uncle was one of the builders, but he passed on before I could see if he had any drawings of the plane. Any help would be appreciated.

Bill,

There seems to have been at least three versions of Lil' Rebel as shown below. If this is the design you are after, I can send you better scans and three views of any or all of them.

That's the one. Actually, I believe them all to be the same airframe with modifications. Garland Pack was indeed the pilot. As I said, it was built right across Berry Field (where the photo with the 86 was taken) at the old Consolitated Vultee plant was located. I would love to get a set of copies if possible, and will wish to build a model to accomodate the OS 320 Pegasus engine.
