Well after months of work, its finally done and flown its first contest.

A much improved model over the Evolis XXL (which is a great plane as well).

The Enigma is matched very well to the 140DZ, and flies extremely smooth with very constant speed without a lot of effort. Even with the massive fuse it handles the wind quite easily.

Rolling manuvers are superb with almost no rudder needed to fly through points, the plane stays almost horizontal as you fly along through knife edge which enhances its presentation. A lot less effort is needed to get through the rolling loop type of manuvers.

I am extremely pleased with this model and would like to extend a big thanks to ZN Line for helping me out, and also for designing an excellent plane. Hopefully I can do it justice at the worlds!

I will try to get some more pictures later.

Thanks for the comments on the plane guys.

I have not weighed the model on a real accurate scale, but I speculate around 9.75 lbs. I made little effort to really get it light, the only light components I used during construction was a carbon/honeycomb firewall, and a glass/honeycomb servo tray. The rest of the wood was all from the kit.

With the DZ there is lots of power and the model seems to be flying great at that weight, I dont know if I would want it to be any lighter. Also it came out exactly on the balance point with the battery near the LE of the wing.

Here are some closeups of my pipe/header/engine mounting

Are you going for a lighter setup on the second one or are you going to keep with the wood?

Hi Chris

I will do it the same as this one, maybe some small changes from stuff that I saw Mark and the boys doing at the ZN factory.

My Evolis weighs just under 9.5 lbs, and I cant tell that the Enigma is any heavier, in fact its easier to fly the Enigma slower than the Evolis, so I am not sure that it would be much different if it was 9.5 or 9.75.

We are at 3500' here in Calgary and the DZ just blasts the plane into the stratosphere on the Figure 9 with 3/2, what more could a guy ask for ?

How far along on the second one are you? Will you have it ready for Poland?

Chad,
Great news. Good looking airplane. I hope to see you in Poland. My Enigma should be done mid-June. I am very excited.

Chris

The new plane is being shipped from France (it may have been sent already) with 3 other Enigmas for guys out in BC.

I doubt that I will have the time to get it finished in time for Poland, but I will start on it and if it gets done then great, if not I have two other Evolis XXL's and one of them will be the backup if the second Enigma does not get completed in time.

Mark

Man, its an awesome plane, I am sure that you will love it once you get it flying! Are you going to Poland for sure? It should be cool, we are staying in Pulawy about 20 km away from Deblin.

Thanks Oscar,
Yes we are doing perfect things up here.
The close-ups of Chads plane shows all details of excellent work of NB Engineering. The painting especially is identical with ZN Line quality although we dont have all these pro gadgets which ZN has access to.
As a short summary we build perfect planes from perfect kits using perfect materials. Thanks to ZN for selling such good planes in kit form.
You also know that my new design Mantis EX and Mantis 3D Extreme is coming soon.
Chad is going to fly 3D Extreme during the AA event at Canadian Nats.

Chad nice plane. Your planes look better every year. Can you give me some info on the remote glow plug starter system you show installed? Thanks Mike Mueller

Hi Mike,

It is the same as the Sig remote plug. This is just what we could be able to find in the hobby shop across the street. As Chad was too excited to fly the plane asap.
I installed all into Chad's plane (all you see in close ups).
Also all of the painting job is done in NB Engineering probuild service.

Nedim
