Status: offline 		I have an old Sig Super Sport in the closet that I built in 1976 but just never flew. Don't confuse it with Great Planes Super Sportser. Getting the urge to finally fly it. Curious about what engine to put on it. I have an OS 25 FSR but not sure what that would do. The box says .09 to 15. I would like to hear from anyone that has experience with this plane. I am not expecting a great plane but figure it deserves the chance to get out of the closet

Status: online 		The club that I'm in now used to race the Super Sports with 20 size engines. They are actually a great flying sport plane with a 15-20 engine and 3 channel. There are still a few around. I attached a picture of some of the guys with their Super Sports from about 1985. Always fast paced action around the pylons with sports.

Put it together.

Status: offline 		Were there any plans included in this series of Sig kits, particularly of the fuselage/rudder sides? I've always like the Scamp and thought it would be nice to make a 125% Scamp and power it with a .25 - .30 engine.

Status: offline 		Finding the foam wing is the least of my concerns - I would much prefer to build a light-weight wood wing any day instead of using a foam one. Finding the plans and/or booklet is the challenge!

Status: offline 		When I built the plane back in 1976 I did with a 19 size mount. I picked up an OS 15 FP new in the box off EBay last year and this sounds like it will be the better choice than even an old 19 size engine.

Status: offline 		Last I knew Sig did not have the plans for the Super Sport. I tried to get them over 5 years ago and all they had was a set of Scamp plans. I bought those for reference and built what I thought was close replica of a Super Sport fues. Throughout my flying career I have flown or owned a total of three S.S. It's a fun plane with a .20 size engine. A .25 FSR is a lot of power. Make sure you have fiberglass packaging tape running the length of the wing to prevent the wing from folding.
I had'nt heard that the wing was no longer available. What a shame.

Status: offline 		I had one of those w/a OS .15 that really flew great. The .25 fsr (especially the abc version) would probably break the wing in two pieces. I'm not certain about the wing being available, but those were injected, open cell foam, what I call "ice chest foam" which really doesn't have a lot of strength and is heavy. The new 1 pound (or less) closed cell foam allows you to make a foam wing lighter than a traditional wing and MUCH faster/straighter. Good luck in your quest.... the vintage birds need to keep flying.
