with a mac. Ok, so I would like to get into the rc heli hobby. I have been doing a bit of reading and have pretty much decided to start out with a simulator for the first few months. My biggest problem is, I have a mac. I downloaded the one sim that I found for mac computers but I am not sure which (if any) transmitters work with it. Does anyone have any experience with this particular sim? If any usb transmitter would work, would it benefit me to get a 6 channel over a 4 channel? I have done a bit of looking into the actual helicopters to and from my very limited knowledge, it looks like the HBK2 would be a fairly decent choice because of the relatively cheap replacement and upgrade parts. Any thoughts on that idea? Thanks in advance!

Nate

i suggest just getting the helicopter, and following Radd's Flight School http://www.dream-models.com/index.html

i tried a sim the other day for the first time...mind you i am just starting to get the hang of hovering with the RC helicopter, and in the sim i was flying 3d(upside down, and what not) within the first 5 minutes...

From my understanding a lot of people that runs a Mac and want to use one of the high end simulators (AFPD, G4, Reflex, Phoenix, ect...) use a program called Boot Camp, the down side is I believe you have to buy a copy of Windows OS.

You might want to ask some questions in the simulator forum.

there seems to be alot of hype about these simulators...
theyre not that great haha, (the free ones anyway). i got FMS and (as some 1 said above me) u can do flips with it in like 5 minutes. kinda useless if u ask me.

i would suggest just getting a helicopter, and getting the training gear with it so u dont screw it up straight away haha.

like u, im noob, nd i just got an esky dauphin heli. and its great, real stable - easy to hover etc.

hope i helped

The sims are an invaluable tool! Even the "not so good" free ones!

The free one over at helifreak while it may not have all the bells and whistles that the expensive ones have, is very realistic as far as flight characterisitics....and that's what's important.
