Hey all,

I acquired an almost new ST 90 4d with an OS 1.20 2 stroke on the business end. I checked over the plane, linkages and everything seems solid. My one concern is the previous owner has the cg set per manual at 7 7/16" but he stated to be careful on loops and stuff as the plane likes to snap out of them. From past experience, I always found that a plane that does this usually has a cg problem or control throw problem (typically too much). I was hoping to get some help here from any ST 90 owners if they have same problem or can chime in if the stated cg works well etc?

Thanks

Z

seems to me it has too much elevator throw, that is where I would start, that is the most common cause of this issue on all types of planes, just back off on the elevator throw with the radio...

def will snap with to much elevator throw and some flyers are moving the cg back aft a bit more than standard. I have not flown mine in over a year due to a blown YS-120.....

I run a showtime 90 with OS 120AX, and I have played with CG, and no matter what it always snaps out of a hard roll and stalls to the right. Other people I know with this plane compnae of same problem, I think it's just how its built.

I'm running mine with an OS 120AX. After I balanced it laterialy, I have no problems with it snaping out. from straight and level flight I can pull full elevator (about 45 degrees throw) at slow or moderate speed and enter into a hover. I believe it's called a wall. I can't remember exactly where the CG is, but it's at or near the aft recommended limit. Try balancing yours laterialy, adding weight to the opposite wingtip that drops. Another thing you should check is to make sure your elevator halves are moving exactlly the same. same speed, same throw.

i have had two of these planes the first with a 1.2 os pumped then i went non pumped the second has a 1.6 os 2stroke on it with a 18x6 pro zinger i fly it between giant flights or just to cut up hover it on the deck I have full 3d rates all that can be pumped out of it and thats alot with a little work the plane will wing rock and snap in a high alpha state. play with your cg i will measure mine but i have alot of weight out back on the tail but the thing flys awsome since ive tweaked it i flip it upside down during level flight if it takes alot of down elev to make it level then the thing is too nose heavy this plane flys like crap if the nose is too heavy everyone will have there opinion but i hated mine untill i got it right now i will harrier it down or a full elevator and land it no snap. pm me if you want pics or cg info
