Anyone used these ignition systems? http://www.syssaaircraft.com/gas_engine_ignitions.html Ignition module died on my Evolution .26gt, looking to replace it with this system due to being way cheaper than the conversion thru Horizon.

Another option for you, Ralph Cunningham 928 635 2455, I doubt you'll find a better price on a very good ignition and Ralph is a good man to do business with. www.DLUSA.net will get you an rcexl ignition for 80 bucks, had good luck with those. The guys at CH ignitions are certainly another good choice. Give Ralph a call though...before doing anything else.

All of the above ignitions are from the same company. C & H, BCMA and Ralf C are all useing the same rcexl ignition as the DL. C & H puts there sticker on it, and say it is custom made for them, but it appears to be the same exact thing to me. It says RCEXL on it, but he gets $100.00 instead of the $80-90 that other guys are charging. I went with C & h because of there reputation for years.

I might be wrong but if you use one of these you will have to retime your engine, No big deal and will cost you a lot less than a new original ignition.

Hobbycity sells an automatic advance unit for $25.
This is the ignition used for the XYZ engines. There is a thread on XYZ engines. I don't see anyone saying the ignition is bad.

Just bolting on a CH RCXL or anybodys RCXL will make for an engine that is way out of time and will run poorly.
The CH conversion kit is 104.95 and included a new prop hub with a retimed keyway
FFIW
CH sells the CH RCXL ignition single for 79.95 not 100. AND the timing chip and plug wire our to our specs

All the RCXL ignitions are auto advance. Except for a few we did for R&D
The unit in the picture is NOT what CH sells.

Hi There

I have been talking back and forth with Todd at SYSS since I read this thread and He is telling me that all that needs to be done to mount this on the evolution 26 is to ensure that you remove one magnet off the hub and leave the other that is timed at 28degrees from TDC on the engine hub. Then change the hall sensor on the new ignition for the one on your existing ignition ( must have something to do with the magnets???)

I have an older evolution 26gt that only has one magnet on the hub does this mean that the RCexl ignition will bolt right onto the engine that i have?

I have the same version. Was hoping the ignition would've arrived today but no such luck. Oh well maybe tomorrow.
