Hi,

My dealer don't have Powermaster 30% heli anymore and he has suggested to buy some PowerMaster 30% DZ... I can see the same amount of oil (30%)... but can I really use it with my heli engine without "adverse" effect? If the answer is yes... why does Powermaster bother to produce 2 different blends of Powermaster 30%

Well I've just checked on the DZ blend they're using 20% of a higher viscosity oil... my guess is that it less suitable for heli usage especially for a 3D flying style where the engine is reving at "high" speed...

Wow what is going on in Belguim to have 30% oil in the fuel?????

The latest japanese 3d flyers team are reputidly using 10% oil probably Ester types but they wont say but others are doing it on 10 to 12% ester oil types no issues

The same oil is often used in sports planes and sports heli as less oil less issues

Even in the french clubs where I was with our own home brews mixxes we often only did 15% oil ester types and some would do as low 10% even for heli 3d ( except four stoke heli where hot weather could make heating issues so then some of them they might go to as high as 20% ester oil if there was heating issues )

Who supplies all the fuel in Belguim???

If I am feeling to lazy to mix my own I buy the 20% nitro modeltecknics Bectra fuel which is 18% oil ( mix of EDL and ML70 synthetics oil ratio unknow but probably 50/50 )

Then I just add a tad of nitro to go to 25% nitro oil drops to about ~15% and fly with that

MY expert 3d heli friend tried it and found it as good as the 30% nitro blend he was using

He sometimes as a result will now mix in more nitro to go to 30% and extra EDL to back to 18% oil if he wants all out 3d and uses the normal Bectra for more run of the mill 3d crafts where he isn't pushing so hard

The UK has modeltecknics if it isnt in Belguim

I often source the oils from Germany or France or the UK in the post and buy the other ingredients stuff locally

Great fuel forums on Ester oil in Germany and France but also reputily in Holland the same exists but I cant do dutch on my babble fish translator

Imported fuels from USA often don't use Ester oil but PAQ oil which isnt so good as Ester so you often need more oil in american blends typicaly 18% to 25% often 18% if it all syntho and 20 to 25% if its 50% castor mix with 50% syntho mix

The highest commersial or home brew fuel oil I know of is 23% oil 50% mix of synthetic castor with 30% nitro for OS 90 DF ramjet used in ducted fan jets where the motor goes at 24000 rpm
