Status: offline 		Spirit of Yesteryear has some kits on sale, and I am considering buying the Astro Challenger and Viking old timer. Any info about kit quality, construction, or flying would be of help.

Status: offline 		If this is the old Astroflight plane, then it is very nice. I had one built for electric and was very happy with it. The kit quality was nice ... not quite up to the old Airtronics kits, but still very good. Construction was more complex than a Gentle Lady, but the provided materials were of better quality.

The wing was beautiful... strong. If I recall right, the leading edge was formed by laminated two strips into a curve, then you sanded/carved the airfoil shape into it. The fuselage was pretty typical construction, and the tail surfaces were stick-construction.

I have ZERO complaints about this kit and the flying behaviour. The airfoil is semi-symetrical (not flat bottom), so it'd fly a bit faster than some sailplanes, but a novice would have no troubles with it. Even with the extra weight of the motor and batteries, I had no troubles thermalling mine.
