My last TF P-40 had a Saito 120 in it and that was a nice match for the plane. I'm (slowly) building another and I have on hand a Magnum XL .91 RFS engine NIB. I may opt to monocote the plane to save the weight if I go this route. I will have flaps and retracts on this one also. Anyone flying this plane with a .91 four stroke? I don't need a barnburner, but I know the plane has its' quirks and I don't want it to be underpowered. Any thoughts?

I had a TF P-40 Years ago and ran a ST90K spinning a 13.5x8 graupner prop. Good power set up ran like a scalded ape, idle, transition, need the hemostats on parking because the inverted motor would syphon fuel. If I had it to do over again I would still run either the Super Tiger or OS 90/91 and use TF muffler header and can to hide everything under the aftermarket cowl.

just my .02 worth.

I'm flying mine 11 lbs. on an O.S. 91 Surpass II 14x6 APC. Flies excellent and realistic but very fast because it is a clean model.
not over powered but JUST Right IMHO LOL

A good landing is one you can walk away from, but, a great landing is when you can re-use the airplane.... immediately

My last Top Flite Gold Ed. P-40 was a Monokote job with an OS .91 Fourstroke and a 13/8 Masterairscrew K prop. It had plenty of power for a plane that weighed 8.5 pounds ( no retracts or flaps). I would be more worried about the motors reliability upside down then its size. It won't be a missle but it should fly fine.
