Status: offline 		I am scratch building a PBY5 (Canso). Wingspan is 108". Wondering what the best prop and engine combination would be. Would like to make this a true amphib (which might mean different props for water). I am guessing here since I don't know anyone with this model. All info welcomed. Thanks.

Status: offline 		You want as much thrust as possible to get up on "step" and minimize your takeoff "roll"(?). That normally means more prop diameter at the expense of pitch (and top speed).
Of course, you have to take into account necessary clearances.

The Canso is a Canadian identification for the Catalina PBY5. We got our plans from Fred Novak of "Vintage R/C Plans" . The plans look good. 4 sheets with a materials list. Telephone number 810-227-1174. Price 31.95US. He has a number of other plans as well. Doesn't have a website though. He usually has a small ad in MAN and RCM magazines.
