Well I am getting back into the sport and plan on getting an 8ight. RTR version of course until I learn how to drive LOL.

Well I am trying to decide.... 500. shipped used with everything I need + extra parts and 2.5 gallons of gas or 900.00 BNIB with everything that was included in the above?

Way I see it is... buy used that has only 6 tanks through it and learn how to drive it.... then get the world version later. Or just suck it up and get it BNIB.

I come from competitive paintball and we always looked at it like this... get it and play. Hop ups come later after you learn how to play. However make sure the gear it reliable.

Is that true in this sport? or is it all about the best ride you can get?

Thanks for putting up with a noob.

Used, That extra money can go to stuff you will need. Like tires, tools and more nitro

First off you can't ship fuel unless you don't tell them its in the package, if you do the Hazmat charge makes it
very uncost effective. Is the 8ight for 500.00 a team kit or an RTR? If it's an RTR model I would not pay over
400.00 for it unless it had the FT chassis and a aftermarket .21 in it.

A new in the box 8ight RTR is only 550.00 from Amain Hobbies.

If you decide to go new and can afford it I would recommend a FT kit and build your
own package of radio gear and engine around that.

I have bought 8&8t new and used rtrs and rollers and you are taking a chance unless you get to see in person what you are buying used ( and use/operate ) If I buy used I estimate repairs are always in the $100-$125 range ... It is real nice to get a lot of extras with used packages and thats what i prefer and then completely disassemble everything and allow a week for re-assembly to obtain the parts that are in need of replacing ... Im always looking for another true race roller for $150

Thanks all... I am going to go BNIB... maybe a roller. What is the best place to buy one? Also what engine would you suggest? One that holds a tune and is easy to tune.

Thanks again everyone.

Amain all the way.. also, about an affordable engine, I hear the Go Tech engine's are good if you're on a budget

RB's are great engines and even better rookie engines. holds a tune exceptionally well and the 3 & 5 port L2G's are under $229. Go's are good engines and a 7port is $209

Its not like there are guys around here that know absolutely everything ... we are out to learn somthing new all the time , at least I am ... honestly the rtr is nice especially if you are talking the losi 8 ... the only real issue with it is setting up the throttle linkage properly and getting a good steering servo and move the stock rtr steering servo into the throttle spot ... and even if that sounds difficult its really not ... thats a good couple steps that can be made to pull you closer to understanding how to assemble the losi 8 ... I check my linkage on on my vehicles every time I use them ... there are numerous upgrades that you make gradually then to make things fun upgrading the losi 8 into the race roller that you can find throughout this wonderful forum !

thanks again guys... keep the thoughts coming.

Yea brother... I had an ego7 and BL Vice. Yea man... to expensive. I am starting to love this sport more. Was spending about 100.00 everytime I played, plus the drama.

I live on an 1.25 acres and it will cost me 1/4 of that to run my buggy everyday for a few hours a day. Plus still be able to do tournaments.

Gotta love it!

Yeah paintball was expensive. The only time it wasn't was when I had a field and shop sponsorship so I play all day for $30 for a case of xball bronze. [[[[=

But anyways, this is a rc forum, we can go to pbn to talk about paintball. I really wish to do both. I think I will go play paintball in a few months after I save up some money. But rc cars are so much fun to work on and stuff. I'm still new but I can't wait to race. Oh and ego7? EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW lol

My cost was mostly gas to the field we practice at...LOL 1.5 hrs from my house.

Now I can step out my back door and drive RC once my track is built. Also we have three private tracks about 20 min max from my house.

So as you can see I can't wait to get my LOsI 8IgHt.... WOOT, WOOT!

Just still up in the air with the whole used, BNIB, RTR or Roller...LOL
