Thanks for the compliments. First there is no blending of colors where they meet, hard line per the pix we downloaded from one of the Avenger sites.
Peter, I'm not sure if you are ready for this anser about the paint and gun type but here goes..... The paint is Rustoleum in spray cans, all the grey/blue color was down with less than a can of spray paint, since that color only came in satin we had to gloss clear it after it was shot.
The biggest problem with a 3 color paint scheme is the taping, you have to be very careful to get the tape right on the edge of the previous paint line. I would have done it differently but I defered to my build partner. Luckily I won't have that problem with my Trojan since it is a solo build which has it's good and bad points.
Chic, you really need to make sure the plane is as clean as possible before shooting any of the final colors, we used white primer on the entire plane and sanded and sanded and still were not 100% happy with the resuklts. But as my cohort says "nobody is going to see it from 400 feet"
Next week we start masking for the dark blue, I figure it will take us about 2 - 2-1/2 hours.

Status: offline 		I'm interested in heating about the clear cost, too. I never likes the way the rustoleum clear would lay down, so I have always used minwax
spar satin polyurethane for clear over both rustoleum and latex. easy to spray, not too glossy, holds up we'll!

Used rustoleum for the primer, color and clear coat, depending on how many coats/heavy you apply will determine the glossiness of the finish.

The trick is to spray light even coats, we had a few runs that we caught right away and used painters tape to remove. If you don't lay down too heavy a coat as you go there is MUCH less chance of drips. Be careful, if you use rustoleum paint read the directions about re coat times, they are different for the colors and clear...you get to choose I guess.

Perhaps If I extend the cowl and add 400 lbs to the tail I can stuff it in the Avenger.

lets see the Aston that it is going in!! Nothing like the sound of a British straight six howling down the back straight. Of course this is provided that the wonderful british electrical systems keeps everything with juice.
