hey guys, i got some Q's on remote desktop.

i understand how to use it but one thing is bugging me, it wants me to enter the pc's password, but i never set the pc up with one since its only 1 account. and the other pc's are my grandpa's and uncles, and they both have 1 account per pc.

so is there a way i can look for my pc pass if it has one? and if it does not can i set one up? or do i need it? and if i do set one up is it gonna ask for it every time i log onto the pc?

thanks in advance

I've always used VNC. But if remote desktop uses the same accounting system as the file shares you need an admin account on both the pc's u want to control that has the same credentials as the host pc.

Example: Your main pc windows login is “RCU” with password “LOSI”. On each remote slave you would create a second account with the same login and password. That way you don’t have to enter a login name or password when logging into those computers. Windows tends to use your current account credentials first when logging into other windows computers. Upon login failure it will pop up the login box.

FYI this “mirrored” type of setup is not recommended. I had a client who was big on this; she picked up a number of Trojans on her laptop while on vacation. Within days of coming home every pc, laptop, and digital camera at her home and work was infected.

(Yes I said digital cameras, the Trojan created auto run files on the SD cards, and internal camera memory so it would be run when the camera was plugged in.)

Should you get infected with a Trojan; any computers in the login history list will be infected too. It’s better to deal with the remote logins and passwords and make sure they are not saved on the host pc.
