I have kind of stayed away from electric because of everyone saying that their "just toys" and "they have no soul" etc. etc.. But after selling my nitro car, I'm now thinking, why buy nitro/petrol when its so much hassle ? I dont buy a rc car for the sound, or for the smell..

So, I have no idea what car to buy, dont really have a specific budget, I can spend around £400/$800 but I can go a little bit higher if I have to...

I want something fast, speed is the main factor, oh, and drifting, so something fast that drifts well, also want something thats good quality, a well known make..

Is there anything else I should know about electric cars ?

How much do you need to spend to get a 70+mph car ?

I'm thinking on road, there are loads of car parks around so finding a big flat/smooth surface wont be a problem

Any advice or help will be greatfully appreciated

Thanks

(Sorry Foxy, I dont want to take the risk with the baja, so electric is a safe bet )

Oh and I know some people might think that the budget isent THAT big, but to me it is :P

team assosiated TC4 is a good car. just upgrade the dog bones/drive shaft to metal and its ready for brushless power. throw in a sidewinder esc and traxxas vxl motor, a 3s lipo and youll do 70mph. maybe more depending on the "c" and "MAH" rating of the battery(the higher, the better)
the traxxas vxl motor is very strong, long lasting. you can find'em for $55 new(shipped) on ebay
the sidewinder esc is nice cuase you can program the "punch" and drag brake. about $85 shipped off ebay. you will want to buy the castle link, $20, which will allow you to program the sidewinder via your computer.
you will want a fan to cool the esc also, figure $20
a decent TC4 will run you $150-$200 used, depending on what it comes with(you can probly find a used one with the metal upgrades). then, re-sell whatever parts you dont use(like the brushed esc and motor) or, find a tc4 rolling chassis for alittle less.
figure:
150 for the car, 55 motor, 85 esc, 20 fan, 20 link, 150 lipo, 100 charger, 25 balancer=$605. so, plan on spending around $650

but, keep you eyes open, you may find a used TC4 or simillar car that is already upgraded to brushless. i bought a traxxas rustler vxl with many upgrades and a 3s lipo battery for just $235! the truck itself is $280 new, and the battery would have cost $150!

+1 on that, for you, a shaft car would be better, no rocks in the belt but whatever you do, dont get cheap

From what you are asking for you might want to check out some of the pan cars.

No the kits are not hard to build if you can work on and fix a nitro I think you can build a electric car.

The other thing to consider if you want a fast electric car is either a custom built car or possibly a 1/8 scale electric conversion.
Or follow the link below for a nice car.
